Perfect fast and reliable network switch for my home
When I recently moved and fiber internet became available, I soon discovered that my old 5-port gigabit switch would need to be upgraded to something faster. After considerable research and shopping around, I decided to get the D-Link 5-Port 2.5 GB switch from Amazon. Making the swap was simple, just move each wire from the old switch to the new one and plug in the power cable. I also upgraded all the ethernet cables to cat 6a to handle the higher bandwidth. I checked on my internet connections and everything was working with no issues. The switch does get a little warm to the touch but not hot. I did measure the top of the switch case with my infrared thermometer and it read between 95 and 100 degrees F. I understand this is pretty typical of a fanless unmanaged switch, so nothing to worry about and well within tolerances. The switch has LED status lights to let you know connection speeds. The 2.5 GB ports match perfectly with my Wi-Fi 7 Mesh network which also operates at 2.5 GB connectivity. D-Link has been around a long time and a trusted manufacturer of network equipment, adding confidence to choosing D-Link for my home network. While it might say Gaming in its name, it works even if you're not into gaming but want a fast reliable switch at a decent price.

Easy, works great
This was perfect for managing the connection from my wall to both my docking station and printer. It didn't slow down my internet speed, which was the main reason for the upgrade. True plug and play, works like a dream!

Nice product
Small in size but it has fast throughout. The switch does not run hot which is far better than most of the competitors products. The device has no moving parts so is very quiet.

Simple, effective, and useful!
Very useful for those pesky one or two port routers. Using mine to split from a single Ethernet port to a super strong 2.5g cable and a 1g cable, never have any drops, issues, hiccups or problems! Have never noticed any heating up or anything, and was simple plug and play!

Great Little Switches
Bought 3 to upgrade my network for Fiber 2 gig connection. All work as intended and the lights were great for finding one bad cable not running at the intended 2.5 gigs. Replaced the cable and the switch lit up blue. Perfect. My only complaint would be the price. I remember my old gigbit switches being a lot cheaper than these even when gigbit first came out as the norm. I'm just glad I didn't decide to do 10 gig throughout my house; I'd be broke before I was finished.

Super easy setup and solid performance!
Picked up the D-Link DMS-105 to upgrade my home network, and it's been great so far. Literally just plugged everything in and it worked immediately — no setup, no weird steps, just done. I’m getting full 2.5G speeds between my PC and NAS with no drops or hiccups. The switch is small, doesn’t get hot, and since it’s fanless, it’s totally silent which is a huge plus for my office. Build quality feels solid too, like something that’ll last for years. Definitely happy I spent a little more to get a multi-gig switch instead of sticking with a regular gigabit one. If you want a fast, no-fuss upgrade for your network, this is a great choice. Would absolutely buy it again.

Must have device if using high speed devices.
This is one of the greats. I almost never have to reset it, and it clearly shows the difference between 2.5, 1g and 100 speeds, and it handles the traffic flawlessly. I use mine in a home office with 2.5 NAS drives, computers and 1g NAS drives along with a 100mb printer, attached to a 2.5 router, and there are no issues. Would recommend!

Great for linking small numbers of higher speed devices with each other and the rest of the network
It is only five ports but it's a good price and functionality for linking a few higher speed devices with the rest of my network. Lets my wifi have 2.5Gbps to/from my router without stopping me from including three other 1Gbps devices.

I purchased this D-Link switch for my home network, and it has been fantastic. The multi-gig ports deliver breakneck speeds, and the plug-and-play setup meant I didn't have to deal with any complicated settings. It's fanless and completely silent, which is perfect for my gaming setup. Plus, it handles multiple devices without a hiccup — no lag, no dropped connections. If you're looking for a high-speed and straightforward network upgrade, this switch is a great choice.

Replaced an older model, learned that my old unit had a defective port that I was not aware of before. Works like a charm. My only suggestion for improvement is that the lights and the cable connections are on the same side. If you desk mount this unit the cables and lights are facing away from you. I prefer to see the link lights, it's best suited for a setup where it is in a shelf where you can make use of the ground (which I do not use) and the power would be at the back and cable in front. Like in a rack. It's a bit small for a rack mount, making it more suitable for desk mount and thus the lights should be on the other side.

The blinking lights are very useful to debug network speeds. Very good product for what you're getting, however it's certainly pricey. I've found cheaper alternatives available since getting this, but if you want something you know will work this will do the trick.
