Q: What does it taste like? I don't know what truffles taste like so when someone says it tastes like truffles what does that mean?

Honestly, I saw and bought this stuff for the exact same reason. The only thing I can say is that when I took a pinch and ate it to get a feel for it, the only description I can give is that it tastes like it would go good with cheese. That's really the only description I can come up with. It is its own flavor, which is why it is so hard to describe. I will sometimes add a dash to creamy, cheesy, or meaty dishes.

Q: I bought this item and the 1st ingredient is "flavors", not truffles. Why is it so? Is it synthetic? I expected truffles to be the main ingredient!

Well... if it's not an actual truffle, I don't think I would expect the main ingredient to be truffles, especially with the prevalence of of chemicals like 2,4-dithiapentane in truffle products. I'm waiting for some company to have the balls to just put "2,4-dithiapentane: prepared by the acid catalyzed addition of methyl mercaptan to formaldehyde"" on the ingredients list and have done with it instead of this "natural flavors/truffle flavoring" nonsense.

Q: Is this better than black truffle salt?

It's totally different, this has no salt in it. Also, a really good truffle salt with actual truffle in it will taste better (and saltier) but will be more expensive.

West Haven CT. It is VERY GOOD. Works perfectly if you are cutting down on your oil consumption.
