IMS Precision basket 51mm compatible with DeLonghi espresso machines DL2TH22E (H22)

The basket is of very good quality and it fits delonghi ecp 3420 very well. It probably fits well all delonghi models, but i have only that one to attest to. It makes a tasty espresso with good crema. The holes are round and uniform. They retain the coffee grounds even at crazy fine settings. I know it from experience.The only downside is that the basket walls begin to narrow down about 5-7mm from the bottom. The tamper wedges into the basket when using less than 13g of coffee. I wish the walls were parallel a bit further down towards the bottom in order to allow for 10-13g shots. On the top side, the limit is about 14-15g. above that the coffee puck begins to touch the shower screen after extraction.

This devices seems to be a very nice quality build but this is ruined by the tapering of the basket near the top that make it too snug for 51 mm tampers. The tamper actually moves nicely through the middle half but gets stuck at the top. This is bad in general because even if it were slightly larger and didn’t actually get stuck it still risks suctioning the puck out of the screen.Potentially fixable by hammering a correct diameter hard object into the top while the metal has been heated and then letting it cool with the pegged object left inside or a pipe stretcher.Consider increasing the aperture of the top of the basket so that it matches the mid section. If there’s a structural reason for the convex walls then consider slightly increasing the entire aperture. Tested using Ikape and Normcore 51 mm tampers on a 51 mm 3 cup basket.

The filter holes are not really precision at all. Fairly large pores. I do use it daily for the time being, but I suppose I should have known the word precision didn't have a definite meaning.

I was excited for the size and volume this basket advertises. The reviews made me confident in my order, especially with the limited options for a basket this size for a 51mm portafilter. First use - my distributer stuck, then my tamper stuck, pulling the basket from the portafilter. Does it need to be broken in? Does it need to be hot to fit just right? I will update my review if it gets better. If not, I will be returning it.** Update - got a replacement and it fits just right! Works exactly as advertised. Triple shot (20-25 gram) basket works perfectly with our Deloni. Had to purchase bottomless 51mm portafilter to use; worth every penny!!!

Fits nicely and improves my espresso experience.

Like other reviewers said, the basket fits fine in a bottomless portafilter, but the inner diameter of this basket is not quite 51mm inside. My tamper and distributor didn’t fit until I worked on the inside of this basket with some 240grit sandpaper and a cordless drill. Then I polished it up with 800grit. Everything fits super precisely now, but this extra work shouldn’t be necessary. (Maybe this is why it was new and on sale?) Also, like other reviews said, the top flange is larger than standard baskets so my magnetic funnel relies solely on its magnets to stay in place and doesn’t lock in around the outside of the flange. I may file down the outer flange on this basket to get my funnel to fit properly…more work. The holes are definitely better than the cheap basket that came with my bottomless portafilter and the espresso that comes out has a better taste. This basket is also plenty big to hold 22g. The finish doesn’t seem as good as it should be.

This made such an incredible difference in the quality of my espresso shots. I picked it up last night and the espresso shots I pulled this morning were absolutely beautiful.
