Heavy duty aluminum. Multiple holes in top allow for addition of Scotty downrigger ball holder or fishing rod holder (although you need to slightly enlarge holes in plastic ball holder and/or drill a new hole or two for attachment of pole holder base).The 9" Gimbal Mount was not long enough to use on the pole bases in my Striper boat. The 9" is entire length of round pipe and my pole base measured 9" from top to cross pin. In order to lock in to base, need another half inch...

Seems expensive, but wanted to keep the downriggers on the boat. Does as needed, all the holes lined up and quality is good. Glad I got the 12" version.

A good solid base to mount my equipment. Saves on drilling holes in my new boat. When you are done they just slide out for easy storage

I like the product but had to return because it would not work on my boat.

Keeps me from drilling holes in my brand new boat. And I like the portability of being able to pick it up out of the rod holder and store it easily.
