His training also by the King, yet so different in comparison to Kai, to govern the kingdom.Once the trials start, Paeydan must do everything to hide her identity of an ordinary, to survive and perhaps win these trials. A compelling tale that had me flipping pages and losing track of time completely. A slow burn romance, enemies to lovers triangle had me arrested for days at a stretch. The witty dialogues and teasing banter added flavour to the flow. The trials were fascinating and I found myself empathising with each character struggling to survive. The descriptions were picturesque and I could easily visualize them. The twist in the end was heartbreaking and yet it set the ground for the second book perfectly. For all those who enjoy this genre, go ahead and grab a copy now. This is part of a trilogy.

Just finished Powerless and wow—I didn’t expect to get this emotionally invested. Lauren Roberts builds a world that’s gritty and intense, but what really pulled me in was the characters. Paedyn is such a strong, complex lead, and I loved how her vulnerability and bravery balanced each other. The slow-burn tension, the moral gray areas, the stakes—it all just worked. Can’t wait to see where this story goes next!

Paedyn is brave, strong, fearless and smart. She says what is on her mind. In the trial, she has to depend on the knowledge and training that her father gave her. Kai is charming, brave, and flirty. He spends his life hunting ordinary people and taking their lives. But deep down, he doesn't like it. From the outside, he is a cruel monster, but from the inside, he is kind. I love Kai and Paedyn together. The banter and the tension between them are incredible. I love their chemistry. I love the plot. Adventure, suspense, action, drama, romance, tension, and betrayal. I loved all of these. The way the author described eyes and eye colour is truly beautiful. Whatever happened at the end, I was not ready for that.

Kai Azer, my love.Great storytelling!

giving my honest review i didn't like the book in the starting point it seemed off for me maybe because it's my only second time reading fantasy books. But I never gave up on it. And then again after some 150 pages I kind of liked it . Kai was very flirtatious and Pae was more like a solid stone. It could have been better if Pae was starting to give up her trance. There was no spice in the book. Ofc it's a slow burn and when I tell you this it is super super slow. I love the triangle between them *iukuk*. Pae was more of a rigid nature and was deemed to either die or take revenge. The plot was not much of a big thing. Like I knew it was coming. Idk how I figured but I did and then it killed my mood. Only the pages in between were good and giggling rest was okayish for me. The whole communication between Kai & Pae were the ones I laughed at and felt really good. Kai held my heart at his favourite colour. Kai was more of a lovely Dover. I felt Kai was someone who would do anything for Pae and also for his kingdom given the plot. Anyways, The book was unnecessarily lengthy. I needed some romance in it at least a kiss but no not one.I saw some of the tiktoks and had mixed feelings and now even I do.
