Hyperkin "Scout" Premium Controller for SNES

I got one of these Hyperkin Snes controllers to replace my old Super Nintendo ones that were having trouble with the start and select buttons. This new controller here overall feels pretty darn decent. It's definitely different than the original Nintendo hardware. But at least everything is quite functional and in the right place. It even adds some little improvements as well. Like a slightly larger back for extra grip. The most important part, is that the d-pad works really good. That's always the weakest link in so many controllers. The action buttons all have the right feel and the shoulder buttons are nice as well. With more than enough length for me on the controller cable. It's the total right price and an excellent controller to get you back in the Super Nintendo groove.

This a GREAT controller. A bit more ergonomic than the original. Longer cord is appreciated. I use this for an original SNES running through an inexpensive hdmi converter to a non crt tv. I think it has better response than the original controller as it obviously has some age. Very little to no lag. I will definitely buy again when I need a second in the to STASH in my collection.

Great quality. Controls feel like the original. Nice long cord. The only improvement would be a no frills packaging option. I despise single-use plastics.

This Hyperkin Scout Premium controller for Super Nintendo was well packaged and feels premium. The cord length, colors and materials all are what I expected out of a third party controller. I specifically got this one so I’d have a known, good, working controller while repairing an SNES console. To my surprise, the right direction on the D-PAD was unresponsive and I had to press down extremely hard for it to register. I decided to take this one apart and found that the membrane had some left over material on the contacts. Thankfully I was able to clean it off with isopropyl alcohol and a q-tip and it was good as new. After reassembly, the controller was very responsive and felt premium. I gave this 4 stars only because of this issue. Otherwise, this is a great controller and a perfect replacement or spare to have on hand!

Good quality SNES controller, have it plugged into an USB adapter for PC. Works great for SNES and Gameboy Advance games. Very responsive controls

These are nice controllers for our Super Nintendo. We love the brighter colors as an added bonus. The length of the cords are really nice to have when you are playing across the living room.

Has a very premium feel compared to cheaper replacement controllers, very comparable to the original SNES controller and works great with my original SNES.

In terms of shape, this controller is very similar to Hyperkin's own X91 controller for Xbox One. Unfortunately, this controller's performance can pretty much be summed up in the same manner as that of the X91 in that its ergonomics are fantasic, while the d-pad kind of stinks. Both this controller and the X91 feel great to hold, as the back isn't completely flat as is the case with the official SNES controller. The rounded sides of this particular controller are complemented with slightly rounded sections on the back of the controller, making them fit and stay in your hand so much more naturally. It's actually quite comfortable, and the controller generally feels exactly like the official SNES controller in most regards with this one exception. The performance is another story, though. Nearly everything aside from the d-pad is fine, but Hyperkin seems to have serious trouble making a d-pad with symmetrical performance. One side of the d-pad is always fantastic, while the other side of the d-pad is terrible. If you're playing Street Fighter II as Ryu, and you're on the left side in a battle, then you'll find yourself having little or no trouble pulling off Fireballs and Dragon Punches, but Hurricane Kicks are far less consistent. Pressing harder on the bad side of the d-pad helps, but you still won't get 100% consistency here. Get onto the right side of your opponent, and the opposite is true. Fireballs and Dragon Punches are really inconsistent, but you can Hurricane Kick like mad. Honestly, I can't recommend these for the price. I'd actually suggest just tracking down a used official SNES controller. Or even some of the knock-offs, as the d-pads on those are at least better than the ones on these controllers.

Lo compré ya que la marca Hyperkin es muy buena. El control se siente muy bien, lo más parecido al original que he sentido en las manos contra otras marcas. No llega a la perfección pero es el que más se acerca por loq ue si lo recomiendo y lo volvería a comprar aunque si tiene todavía un espacio de mejora pues además no es es un control muy económico. Los botones se sienten bien, el detalle lo encuentro en la cruz direccional al igual que su hermano menor del NES, pues de pronto siento que no responde bien en diagonal hacia abajo o abajo como lo hacían los controles originales. A lo mejor si no eres exigente te puede parecer un producto de 5 estrellas pero a mi parecer se quedó un poco corto.
