Small, light, efficient, an excellent first chainsaw
Went for this as my frst chainsaw due to price and name, I have a 20 plus year old McCullough 2 stroke strimmer that still works fine. OK, the bodywork is plastic rather than metal on more expensive models, but at the offered price this is a real bargain. It comes with an Oregon semi chisel profile chain which cuts very efficiently. It is really easy to start and when warm requires only about 1/4 of the cord pulled to jump into life. Only things to be aware of (1) the fuel tank is quite small, so you will be refilling quite often (likely more than 6 times in a full day's work) (2) the air filter doesn't seal on particularly well, so you can get dust sucked in underneath that then lodges just above the choke valve, so clean with care. It can take a 16 inch bar as well. Overall very pleased. Please do get proper training and all the necessary PPE before using any chainsaw!

Avoid, poor quality and non stop issues
Where to begin. Was recommended this product by an agent so bought the 42S for personal use.Very easy to start and get going for the first time, but then everything started to go wrong. The saw got through 3 litres of oil in a few hours. The oil was coming out the saw spitting on everything in site...including myself. The saw dust and oil then create a paste which stops the saw from working correctly. I then started to experience issues keeping the saw running and would regularly cut out whilst up a tree (the saw was full of fuel before anyone asks). The chain was cheap and wore after one cut of an relatively small conifer. It's since been in for repair, after 3 hours usage, and still isn't correct. Good value but I'd rather have spent more on a chainsaw that would last. This thing is poor and will be thrown away after a few hours of usage. Shocking quality.Cheaply manufactured and no adjustment available.AVOID!

Ok... For the price
If you need a decent saw to do occasional logging and felling the odd tree this will be fine. If, like me, you want it for some serious bucking of a lorry load of tree trunks then this does not do that. After running for 30 or more minutes if you stop the engine it will not restart until it has completely cooled down. My guess is that the fuel lines become too hot to allow petrol to get through to the engine. When the saw is running it's pretty good. Like all saws plenty of oil and a sharp blade make a big difference. At a third of the price of a 'proper' chainsaw it has to be worth considering, but keep in mind you definately get what you pay for.

Set on fire
Worked great the first year. Came to use it the following year and it set on fire so I can’t really give it a good review.

Works well
Easy start, used by 2 proffesionals to log up 15. Inch dia fallen bough, the best cheap saw we have used, cant fault it. Use good 2 stroke oil and.chain oil, it will last ,dont follow these wallys that use old cooking oil etc,

Great saw for the price, never failed to start yet
Great saw. I wanted a good value saw and didn’t have the need for the high end Stihl or Huskie brands, which are excellent top notch saws, but well outside my budget.I wanted something with a known brand name, as safety is a priority with chainsaws. McCulloch is owned by Husqvarna, so that ticked the first box. The bar length and engine cc were decent and suitable for all round use on the small farm I have.I’ve had the saw now for about 6 months or so and it’s been epic! Never once failed to start, build quality is decent for the price and it powers through the small and medium sized stuff I throw at it. All in all, a great buy.
