A Solid Choice for the Hobbyist Mechanic
As someone who takes on mechanical projects more as a hobby than a profession, I recently found myself in need of an impact socket set for use with my Milwaukee M12 driver. High-end, brand-name sets seemed overkill for my level of use, leading me to the NEIKO 3/8-Inch-Drive Impact Socket Set. This set appeared to offer the balance of quality and affordability I was looking for. Upon arrival, the first thing I noticed was the uneven coating of oil on the sockets, intended to prevent rust. While initially a bit concerning, it turned out to be a minor issue that didn’t affect the set's functionality. The sockets themselves are robust and have so far handled the tasks I've thrown at them with ease. From casual automotive work to various home repairs, this set has proven to be quite capable. The practicality of this NEIKO set is its standout feature. It's straightforward and unpretentious, yet it includes some commendable qualities. The durability, thus far, has been satisfactory. One month into using them, and they've shown no signs of wear or failure, which speaks to their build quality for the price point. While not adorned with the prestige of more recognizable brands, this socket set fulfills my requirements perfectly. It's a practical choice for anyone like me—a simple mechanic who enjoys dabbling in projects without needing professional-grade tools. I plan to monitor the longevity of these sockets and will provide updates on their performance. As of now, they are a valuable addition to my toolkit, effectively supporting both my work and home repair needs.

Quite impressed
I usually spend more on socket sets, but after hearing several people rave about Neiko sockets, I decided to purchase the complete 3/8-inch metric set. So far, I'm quite impressed with the quality. The sockets grip the bolts firmly, and despite dropping a couple of them and using my impact wrench numerous times, none have chipped, cracked, or shattered. The socket numbers have remained visible and have not faded. The case is sturdy and well-organized, with clamps that keep it securely closed. I also appreciate the two empty slots, where I store some of my many 10mm sockets. Overall, I plan to purchase another Neiko socket set in the future.

Excellent case, quality and variety
Sizes are stamped/rolled and laser etched. Nice touch. Would have been nice if the etching lined up with the detent pin holes but that's picking nits. Phosphate coated not iron oxide which is nice. Box says "Made in Taiwan". These are CrV as opposed to CroMo. CrV is more brittle and so I'm told the walls need to be thicker to compensate for impact shock, but they will last longer than CroMo, as CroMo will begin to deform with use. Supposedly CrV will shatter, CroMo will crack instead. I've never seen a socket shatter under correct application so, always wear eye protection when wrenching, and take that for what you will. Thicker walls might create clearance issues around certain fasteners. On that odd bolt or two it's likely that clearances are an issue from every angle so I'll be using a extended box wrench anyways. I was willing to give up thinner socket walls for all the other features this set offers. The plastic case the sockets come in gets 5 stars. It has an actual hinge as opposed to more expensive brands which use a flimsy piece of plastic left connecting the two halves from the blow mold process. The handle grip is part of the case, and not separately attached giving it a very solid feel. Additionally it has hinged clasps rather than clips which we all know wear out quite fast from use. All the sockets lay down in the bottom tray and appear to stay quite secure when closed when the retaining foam sheet is left in place. I wanted a socket set that did not use the top lid to hold sockets as repeated removal/replacement of those sockets will quickly wear out the plastic that retains them. The case for this socket set is a strong selling point. It's important to me that I be able to stow this kit reliably in a vehicle or mobile-repair situation and not have the rear hinge let go and dump it's contents all over my trunk. This kit comes with a VERY useful 3/8 to 1/2 impact adapter which I'm sure I'll use on the 3/4"-17mm+ sockets switching between my two guns. Extensions are also of useful sizes and appear quality with minimal wobble/slide on the tool-end square drive and little to no off-axis rotation at the socket-end square drive (meaning they were allowed to cool slowly and properly). This limits an extension doing the ol' whirly-gig and flinging your sockets across the concrete when you tap the trigger on the gun a bit too soon before you're 100% on a fastener. The u-joint socket adapter is a bit on the bulky side, but that should come as no surprise as it's CrV impact rated. IMO it should have been deleted and made room for a 6" or 8" wobble extension OR a small selection of 8-12mm 12-point sockets (for drivelines), and all the extensions should have been wobble. That may be just me though. I wish Neiko or their parent company would consider branching into chrome, because it's obvious whoever puts these sets together knows what they are doing. In any case, I'm very pleased with this purchase and would recommend. I buy a lot on amazon and rarely review.

Nice set of 3/8" impact sockets
I was looking for some 3/8" impact sockets, as many times the 1/2" impact wrench is overkill for what I need. I had some previous Neiko products, and was satisfied with the quality so decided to go for them again. They certainly work fine, but I can see some wear vs unused sockets on the part that goes on the wrench. I assume this could be a tolerance issue with either the tool or socket, but I have several brands of 3/8" impact wrenches, and the sockets have had the issue with all of them. It could be that my wrenches have hog rings and these have the pin detent setup, but they certainly wobble more than I would expect either way. Time will see if they last, but overall, happy with the case and ease of seeing the size.

good quality
good looking set. seems to be a really good point between a walmart kind of junk, and something priced out of this world like snap on. fits my other driver handles perfectly and these have a little hole drilled where the ball bearing of the driver fits in for a perfect hold.

Best socket I've bought
I work on diesel engines and their associated systems, which can be pretty rough on tools. I grabbed this set because I needed a impactable set of the most common SAE and Metric sized, and I need shallows and deeps...so combined with the extra extensions and the always helpful wobble socket, this seemed to be exactly what I needed. The price certainly helped my decision. I've had the set for a few months now and I use them daily, they have been put through some serious abuse and show no signs of wear at all beyond some surface scratches. This is easily the best damn tool purchase I've made in recent history and I recommend anybody who needs a good heavy-duty socket set check these out.
