Excellent Disposal
This unit replaced an older Insinkerator Badger 1.0 HP unit, which had gotten very rusty inside (age unknown); one selling point on Insinkerators is that they are easy to install as replacements for previous Insinkerator units; it was true, as the plumbing all lined up perfectly. Installation was relatively quick, as it was the first I'd ever installed. Removal of the old unit posed a few learning experiences, but was easy in hindsight. Once installed, the new unit was tested; it is MUCH quieter than the old unit, and thus far has operated perfectly; it easily ground all leftovers fed to it. Ensure you purchase the appropriate power cable for your installation; it simplified the electrical connection, and makes it easy to use as it plugs into a remotely activated switch on my countertop. I highly recommend this unit, even if a 3/4 HP unit...it seems powerful enough for any task I would have for it!

Great Disposal. Much Quieter than the Cheap Ones.
Easy to install. Quiet and durable. Works well with 3-stage grinding. We have a grease trap and the fineness of the grind doesn't seem to be causing any issues in the plumbing. Running strong for 2-3 weeks now.

Easy installation, quiet, USA made
After 24 years our Kenmore 3/4 HP food waste disposer finally gave up the ghost. Bearings in the motor were getting pretty worn, and starting to bind, making it stall before it could even get going. One of the challenges I thought I would face was that the old unit was nearly 3 inches smaller in diameter than this one is, and I was concerned that I would need to do some plumbing modification in order to make this unit fit. Thankfully the engineers and designers at InSinkErator thought of this, and they've worked hard to standardize how these appliances fit, and they made the drain outlet side of the unit flat, so the distances under sink from the drain in the sink, to the connection for the drain in the wall are very close to the same as they were for my 24 year old Kenmore. This made installation very easy. The instructions were clear, the packaging, excellent and mostly recyclable, and the new "quick connect" wiring was a breeze to connect and use. In operation the InSinkErator Evolution is very quiet, and seems to process any of the food waste we put into it very quickly. My ONE, very minor, niggle, is that the wiring that allows this appliance to be plugged into a standard 110v outlet is sold separately, at a cost of about $16. I see both sides of this, there is a large percentage of the population that would simply throw that part away if it was included, and that seems wasteful too, so no deduction on score, but for my use it would have been super neat if I could have ordered ONE thing and had it show up ready to install. To InSinkErator's credit, it's well disclosed that this wiring is NOT included, so it's not a surprise when you open the package. In summary, this USA designed, USA made appliance was very well packaged, came with great instructions, and was easy to install. Once it was installed it operates efficiently and quietly, and I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Good product for the kitchen
There’s great value in this disposal. Everything is true in the functional sense - speed, quiet and efficient manner of operation. FedEx made the delivery and the box had dents in it. I am not a happy customer. The weight is not overbearing.

Tip for installing
Great product but should have notes to help ease of install. A plumber gave me a tip because I couldn’t get the mounting flange to hook up to drain. If you shim the mounting flange off of the unit with matchbook or small wood shims or small flat washers, so it’s tight to the black gasket, it goes on easy. First 4 hours of struggling because the flange was too loose and tabs not catching on the apposite flange. Other than that, install was a breeze as I was replacing a Badger and everything lined up as units have same dimensions. Quite and grind’s like crazy. Worth it.

Initial impression: Wow!
Back story is I learned the hard way not to scrimp on a disposer - we had a rental house some yrs ago that had an old badger 1/3 hp that I never gave much thought - previous 20+ yrs was with disposers in rural Maine so just having one was a new experience. I don’t realize its limitations and got it jammed. After unjamming and spinning freely by hand, it still refused to run. So I replaced it with the next bigger 1/2hp. I was surprised at just how much better it worked. Then when we bought a house, it already had a 3/4 hp disposer of a different brand but still was a beast munching easily on chicken bones and all types of fruit and vegetable peels. Now convinced a good 3/4 hp is worth the extra expense. Fast forward a decade and we’re buying a new house. Asked builder to upgrade the disposer and I’d pay the difference. Unfortunately they buy in bulk so no choices on appliances. Ok, no biggie, I’ll upgrade myself - been there done that, can do it again!. Been here two weeks and definitely not thrilled worrying about every thing I drop into the disposer. The 1/3 hp moen is only fractionally better than the 1/3 hp badger since it runs at a higher rpm. Anyway, started my research and settled on a ISE 2 stage 3/4 hp as best bang for the buck - Costco had best price but it looks like a custom for Costco model, discharge is an inch or so lower and we got a straight shot so wanted a more compact model so discharge would line up better with existing. Best price was Amazon or Lowe’s for the 3/4 hp Advanced or Compact - both 2 stage. But figured to wait for the holiday sales. Sure enough Amazon posted the Evolution 3/4 hp for a good savings or actually about a break even when adding the stupid ez connect plug since it only comes with the hardwire connector. A shameful ploy by ISE marketing to squeeze out an extra bit of profit on these units. Anyway, 2 hrs or so to remove existing moen and install the new evolution, including the 5 mi trip to HD to get the cord. The marketing literature for the moen says it uses the same 3 bolt ez twist lock so I didn’t remove the sink collar. The only hassle was when trying to remove the lock ring, the whole collar assembly would turn, so I had to pry the lock ring against the bulge on the collar where the jack screws connect. Enough prying got the old moen to finally release. The plumbing is pretty new so I just removed the dishwasher hose, loosened up the discharge piping, removed the discharge nozzle flange bolts from the moen, and turned the other side sink trap a bit so the connecting tee would allow clearance for pulling off the discharge nozzle. The old unit simply slid off now. When I got the new unit locked into the collar, I just slid pipe nozzle back into the tee, turned the piping back to align, and bolted the flange onto the new disposer, then snugged up the drain pipe fitting at the tee. The disposer hose fitting was the same size so just removed the evolution’s sealing plug, pushed the rubber connector onto the fitting and tightened up the hose clamp. All seems fine. Filled sink with water and no apparent leaks. Initial runs have been smooth and exceptionally quiet. It feel robust, even with the outer plastic shell. It’s a bit lighter than I expected which made it that much easier to install. At 70, I’m not as strong or as flexible anymore so it was very pleasing to find it was easy to handle. So far I’m really happy with it. Obviously, time will tell how well it holds up. But I’m expecting it will outlive me!

I bought my machine through Amazon and got it shipped to Dubai, but the machine ONLY operates with 110 volt electric current while all countries, except USA, run 220 volts. I connected the machine without knowing and it got toasted without being warned nor notified. Such companies who wish to sell only in USA should not allow their equipment to be shipped abroad because I will never waste more money on InSinkerator after what I have lost already.
