A problem solver!
While changing out an old shower diverter valve, the valve seat was rusted out & brittle. After trying a seat wrench, the inside crumbled. So, I tried the old screwdriver/hammer method. Didn’t work. After much frustration, I came across a solution. A #5 extractor. The seat was out in two minutes!

Good stuff
My favorite brand of extractors. They work great, but remember that they take a specific technique (tap a divot with a punch, drill out appropriate hole, tap extractor in with hammer, THEN extract. And remember also extractors are consumables, they WILL break eventually regardless of brand, even if properly handled.IMO Irwin makes the best and longest lasting.

Worked good
Worked great. Had a broken exhaust stud in a cylinder head and was able to get it out. Just make sure you drill your hole dead on in the middle and drive the easy out in with some really good hammer taps

Got this set due to many trial and error with various other brands, after very heavy use to one particular bit it has held up with minimal wear

Didn't work for me in this instance
I couldn't get a broken bolt out of my corolla 2007 batter strap connector. The bit broke, then used another and that one broke. Might work on some softer bolts that aren't as locked up.

Didn't extract bolt, no instructions, should have bit handle included, problem now worse
Returned because they would not grab. Any product simple enough to require no instructions whatsoever should be a good enough product to work. Granted, I knew exactly how I was supposed to use the item, but, seriously, no instructions?? Moreover, a tool like this should come with a small holder, since you clearly intend for them to be used in a square channel holder, like tap and die sets use. This is exactly what I did use, and all I got for my trouble was a beautiful, smooth, hole that is now impossible to get out with any extractor--and I get to hope and pray with a drill.
