Hideous Kinky

Hideous Kinky has been a favourite film of mine since I first saw it, so I have finally treated myself to the cd. The music is a mixture of songs from the time (Canned Heat, Richie Havens, Jefferson Airplane, Incredible String Band, Nick Drake) together with Moroccan sounds.It all melds for a glorious hour of chilled out time on a journey back to the 70's. It is a pity they didn't include "Horse with No Name" which is a favourite of mine but maybe they didn't get permission. Anyway, a great soundtrack from a fabulous film where Julia (Kate Winslet) escapes London and takes her children in search of adventure and to 'find herself' in Marrakech.

FANTASTIC ALBUM

When I first saw the film the biggest attraction was definitely the spiritualised sounds throughout the film. Close your eyes and your right there in the moroccan deserts smoking the naguila, laid back on the array of foreign fabrics. This album sums it all up, a mixture of chilled out hippie beats to wild moroccan sounds, perfect for the ultimate in cotch
