Logitech Circle View Apple HomeKit- Enabled Wired Doorbell TrueView Video, Face Recognition, Color Night Vision, and Head-to-Toe HD Video - Black (Renewed)

I know this camera gets a lot of mixed reviews, but after dealing with a Ring camera linked through HomeBridge to my HomeKit setup, this camera is a revelation. I refused to use a battery-powered unit, but most are dual-power, so they are giant ugly things in case you use the batteries - I love that this one is wired-only so it’s nice and small and attractive. Notifications are fast and dynamic and it uses HomeKit Secure Video which is a massive deal. Summer hasn’t hit yet, but it never gets direct sunlight, so I’m probably good there. Video quality is great, I love the portrait orientation and the built-in light. HomeKit setup was easy and I like all of the options and automations available in the Home app, as well as direct integration with my Apple TV and HomePods. The only pain was installing the chime kit. It is actually dead simple, which was revealed to me by a YouTube video, the included instructions vastly overcomplicate it and I was livid when I thought chime functionality would require running new doorbell wires. Again, once I watched a YouTube video, it took 2mins and were in business.

Using NFC technology, I simply placed my iPhone on the doorbell to initiate pairing, and everything configured automatically through the Home app. No third-party apps, no confusing passwords to enter. Within minutes, it was connected and operational. The wired installation itself mirrors standard video doorbell procedures, and Logitech includes both straight and angled mounting brackets for installation flexibility. Video Quality and Night Vision This is where the Circle View genuinely shines. The 5MP sensor with 1200 x 1600 HD resolution and HDR support delivers crisp, detailed video in portrait orientation—perfect for seeing visitors from head to toe. Unlike competing doorbells that display grayscale at night, the Circle View’s color night vision with its 4000K LED light strip produces full-color footage even in darkness. The 160-degree field of view captures sufficient coverage of most porches and entryways. Daytime footage is rich and clear, while the color night vision is genuinely a step above the competition and makes identifying people far easier. HomeKit Secure Video and Face Recognition The facial recognition integration using your personal Photos library is surprisingly effective. Multiple users, including tech reviewers, have reported overheating issues when the doorbell receives direct sunlight or is installed in consistently warm environments. The doorbell has an operating temperature range, and if exposed to conditions exceeding these thresholds, it will shut down temporarily to protect its electronics. If your front door faces west and receives afternoon sun, or if you live in a consistently warm climate, this could become a recurring problem. About This Renewed Unit As a renewed/refurbished product, my doorbell shows no visible signs of cosmetic wear. It’s fully functional and performs identically to a new unit. Just ensure your door location doesn’t face intense afternoon sun or extreme heat, or you may experience frustrating shutdowns during peak temperatures. Would I recommend it? Absolutely—but verify your porch conditions first, understand the HomeKit exclusivity, and carefully inspect your renewed unit upon delivery.

Do not buy. Purchased two units from two different sellers. The first one arrived broken in a boot loop. I returned it but am still waiting for a refund. Both sellers use USPS for shipping, so it takes a while. The second unit boots up correctly but doesn’t let me add it to HomeKit. I get “Doorbell already added to home". I contacted Logitech support directly, and they confirmed that these are behaviors of defective units and there is nothing I can do. I also purchased multiple chargers, cables, and transformers because I thought it was an issue on my end. What a waste of money and time. These aren't refurbished, renewed, etc. doorbells. These are defective units that have gotten returned and are now being resold. It’s a scam. Do not buy from third-party sellers. Maybe better luck with brand new and directly from Amazon, but then again, these doorbells seem to have a very, very high failure rate.

Installation was straightforward and trouble-free. The image quality is sharp and clear, and the device integrated seamlessly with Apple HomeKit—which was the main reason I chose this model. Since installation, I haven’t experienced any connectivity issues at all. Everything has been stable and responsive. Overall, it's a solid smart doorbell that delivers what it promises. Definitely worth the money.

Probably should have listened to the other reviews. Unfortunately I’m notorious for thinking “This couldn’t possibly happen to me”. Well, I’m disappointed that a company like Logitech would put out such a poorly functioning device. This doorbell camera is not on par with their computer peripherals. This camera drops connectivity like a DJ at the club is dropping beats. Mind you, it’s hard wired to a physical chime, so even when it’s not connected the door chime still works. That’s great, if I’m home. With that said, don’t waste your precious money or time with this device. Hopefully Logitech will recognize they made a turd and actually try to produce a better option for those trying to find a HomeKit compatible option.

Works great but be caution about having it exposed to direct sun and it goes off line when it overheats

Do not buy if refurbished. I did not realize I was getting the refurbished one (my bad). The unit arrived with damage on the bottom. The previous purchaser doubtless had the same issue as me: it was impossible to remove the face of the unit to perform a reset. Inserting the pin into the hole did nothing, and the previous purchaser resorted to trying to pry the two items apart, causing damage. I did the same and caused more damage. I would return it but I’m out of time. 30 days is all you get, and I was initially waiting on an electrician until I decided to try the install myself.

Absolute waste of money and time diagnosing two faulty "chime kits". Voltage drop across chime kit prevents doorbell from operating. Only after online research did I realize where the defect existed.

I’ve now ordered a total of three of these doorbell cams from this seller. All three have showed up in previously opened and damaged boxes and the product has been non-functional. After two returns and reorders, I’m done. Three strikes and this seller is out. I would avoid at all costs.
