Beautiful chess set. Packaging is particularly luxurious - feels like a premium item so great for a gift. Pieces are beautifully crafted and board sits flat. Small inconsistencies in the squares as others have mentioned but nothing offensive. Pieces are ever so slightly on the light side but again, nothing too noticeable and perfect for the price point.

This chess set is genuinely beautiful. He build quality seems excellent, especially at this price point. The pieces are a little light for my taste but they form a nice light set with the board for travel etc. I was a little nervous from a few other reviews but the set I received was almost exactly as shown in the pictures and a really nice set to use regularly. Thanks

Perfection and classy

I wanted a decent sized chess set, mainly for practising whilst watching YouTube lessons as I couldn't use my phone to watch and practise using chess.com app at the same time, but also wanted to play family and friends. The quality is very good. The pieces are nice. I prefer the black pieces than the cheaper wood coloured versions of this. A&A also have very nicely designed pieces and the knights especially are classy here, as opposed to other makes that use the beady eyed knights. I actually wanted a more expensive 16" one from another company, but luckily they sold out so I opted for this one, saving 17 quid. The packaging is gorgeous, and board is beautifully crafted. The cheaper version has lighter weight pieces and brown wooden coloured dark pieces but I liked this one better. My ONLY gripe is that some mahogany squares are slightly scuffed and are not consistent in colour. I've tried almond oil (I work on guitars and it's great for darkening dried out rosewood fingerboards) but hasn't really worked. Maybe there's something better I dunno. Its still a lovely board and I’m delighted with it. The slightly more expensive walnut one also looks beautiful and I’d recommend that for only around £7 more.
