A Dawn of Onyx

Okay, to be honest, the first few chapters I tought it was a little tropy and predictable. And then it was like the author put some kind of magic in it, because I was hooked! I couldn't stop reading and finished te book in less than 48 hours.And I need book 2 like right now! 😭Turns out I was wrong about most of the other plottwists and the vibes and the chemistry between the maincharacters were amazing. 🔥🩷Romantasy, Spicy, Morally grey MMC, Strong FMC, Fae, witches and creatures, Magic, Enemies to lovers, Insta attraction, Slow burn, Who did this to you?, Action.

A DAWN OF ONYX has all the elements of a great Romantasy—interesting plot, a female protagonist you want to root for, lovable secondary characters, but its major strengths are the romance, and the male protagonist.Kane Ravenwood.Kane is one of the best morally gray characters I’ve ever had the pleasure to read. He doesn’t sugarcoat his actions and he’s really someone who’s willing to do whatever it takes for the greater good. Whatever it takes, until he starts falling for Arwen that is. I enjoyed this book and felt it was written well. The world building and magic system were easy to follow and I could imagine everything so clearly.The plot was well thought out and had me guessing throughout. It held my attention and made me want to read on to see what happened next. Some things I did see coming and others I didn’t!Arwen hasn’t had the easiest life due to her stepdad. She becomes responsible for her Mum and sister Leigh when Ryder left for the army. She is taken against her will and forced to remain in Onyx even when she just wants to find her family. After everything she’s gone through, she is still such a kind person and wants to heal others.Kane is portrayed as a ruthless ruler who started a war because of greed for power. He carries the weight of the kingdom on his shoulders. He keeps so many things hidden but he feels it is for the best.I loved these two characters together and was rooting for them from the very beginning. They both feel they can be themselves when they are together.I really enjoyed all of the side characters and reading about parts of their stories.I’m hoping for a romance between Mari and Griffin 👀This is what you call a SLOW BURN.. it was 300 pages before they even had a kiss!!There is plenty of teasing which keeps you on edge but anytime you think something might happen.. it stops.. and I could have thrown my book at times 🙈🤣It was worth the wait though and hoping we get more in book 2!I had so much fun reading this book and would recommend if you’re wanting a slow burn romantasy.I am excited for book 2 and can’t wait to jump into it!

The book itself looks like it was poured in water and air dryed. Very sad its slightly damaged

I came across this book while scrolling through a book store. The blurb instantly got my attention. This book is a lovely slow burn romance between the mysterious King of Onyx and Arwen Valondale, an ordinary healer from the province of Amber. As far as Arwen knows, the war Onyx has waged on Amber for land and riches has left her homeland in shambles. When certain events force Arwen to become a prisoner for the King of Onyx, Arwen must navigate a world of politics, and magic all while fighting her growing attraction to Kane Ravenwood, the King of Onyx. The story captured my attention and made me want to read the rest of the series. I couldn't wait to read about what happened next.
