Love them.
Fitment: As someone who struggles with footwear due to the shape and wideness of my feet, these boots are a solid win in my book. I was able to order them in my actual size, without having to go up. One minor issue: The model for these boots was likely a wide foot with a higher arch. I did find them to be a little too spacious, as I have lower arches, but, I solved this problem with some cheap Dr. Scholl's inserts. What (minor) slippage I had was resolved.Weight: The boots are light weight. They feel like sneakers. They are as light as the Salomon Quest 4D's but fit me much better.Lacing: The laces are good quality, no bunching or breaking. I would have preferred metal aglets with metal speedhooks, but I can change these out later if I have any issues.Traction: No issues what so ever on the trail. I am confident when walking over smooth or wet rocks.Cushion: I have some bone spurs on my heels and these boots provided adequate cushioning on their own so I don't have any serious issues there.Waterproofing: They are not super water proof to be honest. They have a lot of ventilation and when treading through streams, your feet do get wet. They seem to dry fairly well if you're wearing the right socks (not cotton).Side Zipper: I originally wished there was a version without the side zipper, but I now see the merrits of the zipper system. They make it much easier to insert and remove your foot from the boot. I'm not sure whether the intention was a lace'n'forget system, using only the zipper afterwards, as I personally am unable to remove or insert my foot without unlacing the boots a bit. HOWEVER, I do not have to unlace the boots completely, and sometimes boots are hard to get on and off even when completely unlaced. With the zipper, the boots are really easy to get on and off. So far, I have had no issues with the zipper. I have put about 50km on them in rough terrain and they have not failed me.Overall: These are really solid boots. I am overally really satisfied with their construction and design. They are super comfortable and feel durable. You may run into issues with the plastic speedhooks later on, however.

Great first impression and comfort...
I have narrow feet and high arches and these boots actually fit well without adding any inserts. My heel is supported well and doesn't slide about inside the boot. The laces are further down the instep than on other boots, so you can adjust fit for the front of your foot all the way to just behind the toes. The first day I wore them I did 6.4 miles at work and they fit so well I didn't get any hot spots or foot pain despite them not being broken in at all. Their style is great, nice and aggressive, and their construction seems to be really rugged. I'm hopeful these will last at least a year or more.

Excellent boots, very comfortable, but be careful with size
I have had these Merrill MOAB 3 boots for two weeks, and after putting several miles on them I must say that they are about the most comfortable boots for walking, both on pavement and in the woods, I have ever owned. They are light, soft stepping, stable and supportive, and are claimed to be waterproof (though I have not yet tested them for that). I purchased them for outdoor activities that involve lots of walking and standing, occasionally on wet and soggy ground, and I am confident they will serve well in that use. That said, I do have two observations:This is actually my second pair as the first pair I received were far too large. I have several pair of perfectly fitting Merrell walking shoes in size 9W, so that is what I ordered with these Merrell boots. They turned out to be far too large, with more than an inch of extra room in the toe, and too much room on the sides. The good news is that Amazon makes the exchange easy, and three days later I received a pair in size 8 ½ W. These are also just a little too large, and an 8 Wide or Regular would probably be better, but I’m trying to make do with thicker socks. Still this variance in sizing from the same manufacturer was surprising. The product information seems to infer that, with a side zipper, they can be put on and removed without having to deal with the laces. I found this to not be the case. They can be removed by opening the zipper, but if they’re laced tight enough to fit properly, there is no way I can get my feet into them with the zipper open. What I found is that if I leave the zipper open, tighten the laces as with any other boots, and then pull up the zipper, I get a good, snug and supportive fit around the ankle.

Do not buy but if you do, don't pull on the laces!
Bought a pair for duty use and they were too small but fit my son ok, he is in EMT school so I gave them to him. The size runs about 1/2 size small. I bought second pair and discovered lace loops are plastic, not metal. No packing material or tags when received so they are believed to be used. One lace loop was either broken on arrival or I unknowingly broke it. The second loop broke when i was trying on. Never walked 1 step in this pair. My guess is the first pair wont last long. Clearly lace loops not suitable for actual use. It's unfortunate as I really like and want the boots otherwise however I will not be buying another pair and cannot recommend until loops get upgraded. The loops in the pics look like black finish is worn off and metal is showing... thats the lighting, zero minutes of wear and they are made of brittle plastic.

Fantastic but choose a size smaller also dealing with wear and tear
I have been wearing this boots for about two years. Because of extreme trauma arthritis in my right foot and ankle. I always have to go up a size in shoes, from 10.5 to 11. But, they ended up being too big and I felt I was wearing clown shoes. I then started wearing as 10.5 but while better, nut a snug fit. I just got them in size 10 and they are perfect. They have always been comfortable, but with a snug fit there is less wear and tear for me. However, the soles don't last. Despite the bad foot and being in my 70s, I take long walks, from 10 to 12 miles everday on sidewalks, never on the ground. Because of that the heals are ground down in about 3 months. Still, they are the best I have ever used.
