Extremely high quality from two of the best knife makers in the world
This is the perfect knife to have with you when things go really really bad it is an excellent backup to my White River 7-in firecraft. S35 vn really rocks, and magna cut is pure perfection. This knife is nothing short of magnificent. Designed by esee and built by White River knives and tool. This might be the finest little knife ever built. White River is a magnificent knife company. I love this knife as much as my dog. let's keep that on the low low my dog is a mean little bastard that has already bit me three times. I really do love my dog.

My new favorite
My new favorite fixed blade knife, fantastic blade quality, scales are okay, knife really deserves better scales. Nice retention in sheat. My everyday carry.

Magnacut & Esee… love it.
For a few years I have been on a mission to find the right knife setup for edc that would cover tasks ranging from out in the woods working in any trade or cutting up lunch. For years this setup was the esee 4 on my belt and the Benchmade crooked river in the pocket. I liked having the esee for tasks that probably extend past what a knife is for (hah you know ) and the benchmade was s30v so it stayed cleaner and sharper for slicing up food or packages etc.I did a fair amount of research into blade steels a few months back and found the latest and greatest edc blade steels ranging from cpm s35 , crew wear and then found Magnacut at the top of that list.Anyway to the point - I definitely have been looking for the best of both worlds in one knife for the days I don’t have an extensive edc setup. If I’m just going to have one knife on me for some basic tasks- I do like the powder “super steels” and have been hoping Esee would do something with Magnacut on their smaller 2 or 3 inch edc type knifes . I recently found this one and here are my initial out of the box impressions.I like the no thrills work horse knife approach(why I’m partial to see in general). It came hair popping sharp and has a fairly thin point despite the more utilitarian blade shape.(Undoubtedly one of the benefits from this choice of steel- its ability to stay strong while a little thinner) There is no doubt it will be great at slicing or piercing.I personally favor micarta over g10 so the styling and feel of the handle I felt was great. (Being extremely picky I like the canvas micarta like on the Izula 2 a bit better for grip texture but the “3d” feature is certainly more comfortable / naturally pleasing to the hand. On the other hand I feel it’s that squareness and the texture of the izula grip that just locks in the hand a little better for me but certainly not a deal breaker or slippery)Okay so being honest this is what I would like to see personally if this knife was to have a second production run:Jimping- never thought I’d miss it but I do with this.Choil,Ricasso/protection from cutting your finger if your choked up and hard use.The sheath is not bad but it’s not great. I really like the sheath that came with the izula and my 4 but this retention doesn’t feel the same and the metal clip is significantly better in my personal opinion. Will edit after some extend use and let you know how I feel. This was just a first impression of the unboxing and first impression/arm hair test .Definitely think this has a place in the edc rotation. Thanks for reading.

One of the best.
Make sure to oil when you get it. Mine came with several corroded spots when received. One of the best knives made though. Can’t go wrong with Essee.

I would advise caution with this one.
I wanted to give this knife 5 stars but I have used it for a little while and I honestly don't know what this can do that a decent folding knife can. For the price I really thought I was getting something phenomenal but it really isn't all that much better than most of all the other knives of similar blade size and in some cases I had better results with other knives. The grip is nice but lacks leverage for some tasks and it just so happens those are the tasks I purchased it to do. I was going to return it but I seen I have scratched the blade so I suppose I am stuck with it. Just make sure that you know the ins and outs of that egg shaped handle.

Might be the perfect fix blade
Great size, comes pretty sharp, great slicey shape, easy to carry, good sheath.

Cut myself three times
The stupid blade seems designed to cut you. Just hold it wrong and the stupid edge, sharpened all the way down, hovers right above your index finger.choice.Worst design ever!!!I'll never buy another knife that doesn't have a choil.

Great backup
I’m glad ESEE has branched out from using just 1095, I’ve noticed their s35vn and a2 offerings; I had to pick this one up. I’m unsure about the expectations some people have, I have yet to see ESEE use Magnacut and I’ve never heard/read that A2 is anything like it or D2. A2 and D2 are tool steels, Magnacut is a powdered super stainless steel. Magnacut is the most expensive of the three, A2 is known as a tough steel that can handle heavy use, D2 has great edge retention but isn’t as tough and is prone to chipping with hard use. Many steels out there, some are alike and some are very different from one another.
