Almost didn’t get this based on the reviews but am so glad I did! If you’re feeling the same and on the fence — read this!I’ve been looking for a good mercury thermometer as a welcomed alternative to constantly replacing the battery in our digital one. I was particularly hoping to find one that could read in both Fahrenheit AND Celsius and was excited to find this option in my search. This thermometer absolutely delivered! It gives you the best of both worlds, is accurate in its reading (we compared it with our digital one), and easy to reset — if this is your first mercury thermometer, the key is to carefully “shake it like a Polaroid picture” a few times to get the line back down.

I purchased 3 of these for my family and they are complete garbage. Each is accurate and in its reading with the other 2 unfortunately the three thermometers read 102.2 every single time yet when tested against a thermometer gun or other oral thermometer those read at 98.6. Don't buy this product

DO NOT BUY! Zero star review masquerading as a 1 star only so it will appear. Glass centigrade thermometer that CANNOT BE RETURNED. Near impossible to read. I took my temperature, which read far below any temperature known to mankind. My husband, who has a raging fever, also took his and guess what? They were exactly the same! Useless product. Embarrassed to have purchased, hope this saves you the $10.

Nothing beats the old style thermometer. Always works no batteries to worry about.Just takes 2 minutes of your time with no frustrations.

Whether you put this in your mouth or under your armpit I feel this has got to be better than any of those digital thermometer. I wish I had looked for one sooner because I bought severl of the others and never had any luck. Therefore while these tend to sit around the house if you keep it in the medicine cabinet at least you know that its in a safe place or quite honestly you know your going to get a reading within a couple minutes which will be reliable and accurate. You just have to shake before each use so as to get the proper tools. Something tells me my grandmothers knew the coming of age with computers and such are only as good as the people that use them and so so correctly. You need to disinfect after each use but because it is. Glass I don’t like to handle with my shaky finger. I am very happy with this item and will get another when or if it needs replacing.

It was well packaged and nothing seems broken but it was defective product. When I hold tip of it by two fingers, it keep going up to 41C in just few seconds then after release the fingers from it, it goes all the way down to nothing in few seconds. When I try to return this item as defect, it saids "This item isn't eligible for return" I have to call Amazon to receive refund. I am sure not all of them are like this but you may receive defective product.
