Beurer BG51XXL High Capacity Diagnostic Scales

Amazing product. Gives you so much information in seconds. Easy to use and can save several profiles. Great to track fitness as it displays not only weight but BMI, body fat %, muscle mass etc. Highly recommend if you are looking for a good scales to invest in!!

I purchased this and had problems from the start when it only worked intermittently. After lengthy correspondence it was replaced and the new one worked fine for a short time, but began to produce inconsistent results - sometimes the weight would be 10 or more kg wrong and this was only apparent after several weighings. It also developed the habit of showing the correct weight initially but the weight display would change to something much lower when the other statistics appeared. I am now trying to get a replacement for the second unit.However, even when the scales are working as they should I have several issues about them:1. The user interface is very difficult and complex to use. There are only three buttons 'Set' 'Up' and 'Down' and every button does several different things depending on the situation. It is a nightmare to use. If you get something wrong you cannot go back you just have to wait until the machine switches itself off (there is no 'Off' switch) and then start again.2. The machine produces seven different statistics but they are only displayed for a few seconds before the scales automatically switch off. There is not enough time to write them all down so you have to weigh yourself several times to get a note of all the figures. Madness.3. Some of the figures are very suspect. The recommended calorie intake always appears way too high. The recommended intake for a normal person is around 2000 but the machine always recommends 3000+ calories. Even if you set a low activity level, it recommends far too high a calorie intake. The bone weight also seems to high. I weigh 11 stone but the machine says that over 8 stone of my body weight is bone - surely that can't be right. Overall I have no faith in any of the figures that it shows and next time I would stick to a good pair of scales that just gives weight and perhaps BMI - everything else is just an estimate based on the average person.4. The display is not easy to read in poor light. Surely they could have provided a back light?Overall I found this to be very disappointing. When I purchased this in March 2013 there were loads of reviews on Amazon which have now all disappeared which I find strange. I only bought it because it had good user reviews but now there are none.

I'd say that the weight measurements are good enough but the rest of it seems fairly pointless as there's no way of knowing how accurate it all is.Set a profile to female and "err 2" appears on the display change it to male and no error message so obviously something faulty. Can't be bothered to send it back.Just get a basic set of scales that only measure weight and save about 50% on the cost of these.

After sending back two sets of Salter scales (damage and quality / accuracy) I decided to try the Beurer scales and extremely impressed with the build quality, fit & finish ... but above all else the accuracy of the scales.Highly recommended

got these within a day and they ROCK.....does everything it says and is so easy to set........the best scales EVER xxxxxxxxxxxps they are so accurate too......

This brand new product was delivered with batteries supplied that would not operate the scales because they were dead. Disgusting.
