Joyful
Experience the sounds of joyful gospel music with a group backing up a singer who also is somewhat of a preacher. You feel the late 60s. Early 70s style gospel. That you almost feel you're in those big churches

The best gospel album ever!
My family and I listened to the vinyl version back in the late 80s. I had to get a cd copy of this because it helped us through a hard time in our lives! I still play it on Saturday mornings while cleaning the house

LET'S HAVE CHURCH!!!
I love this CD, oh, my heavens. I am wearing it out! Bought it for "Peace Be Still," but EVERY selection -- at least for me -- has proven glorious. As a disciple of Christ, I appreciate Christian music in all its forms. But, with malice toward none, I gotta say it: the OLD stuff is what stirs my soul. So God bless the enduring musical legacy of the Rev. James Cleveland. Of the 14 songs, the biggest surprise by far is "Christ The Redeemer" -- a stark and haunting tune of minimal instrumentation that speaks to Christ's agony on the cross and triumph over death. It's followed by "In God's Own Time (My Change Will Come), an exuberant expression of faith that will have you wanting to clap your hands and stomp your feet, even as you steer the car. LOL! So be careful!!!

Awesome, inspiring and touching.
This is a wonderful CD to purchase. I have purchased two, already, and will probably purchase more. This CD will touch your heart for the Lord. No matter what your life situation is, listen to these choirs and the late Rev James Cleveland as they fill your soul with joy and direct your heart toward the wonders of our magnificent God! You will NOT be disappointed if you listen with your true heart. This CD makes an exceptional gift for loved ones. From the first selection to the last. I thank God for this man's music ministry, though he is no longer with us, he continues to reach out to others for the Savior. To God be the glory!!!!!Amazon sells this product at a very good price and it was readily available. THANK YOU Amazon.

One of the very best...
This album takes me back to the early eighties...rousing choirs and rousing spirit-filled choruses to lift ones soul. Whilst the album has been pressed somewhat low in terms of volume (you will need to turn the volume up significantly) this does not detract too much from the purchase or experience. buy it.

'Not Bad But Not A Great Gospel CD!'
'Jesus Is The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me' is 'okay' and it's a re-working of R&B group Gladys Knight And The Pips' song, 'You're The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me' (James Cleveland and the choir sounded 'okay'); 'God Has Smiled On Me' is a nice song and the vocals by James and the choir were nice; 'I'd Love To Tell The Story' is a good, up-tempo song and the vocals were good; 'I Don't Feel No Ways Tired' is another good song with good vocals by James and the choir; 'I'll Do His Will' is a good, uplifting song with handclapping and vocals; 'The Promise' is a nice song and I liked the piano and vocals; 'The Lord Is My Light' is another nice song and I liked the vocals, drums, and handclapping (the song is based on Psalm 27); 'Everything Will Be Alright' is a good, uplifting spiritual/Gospel song and the vocals were good as well as the piano, drums, and handclapping; 'Lord Help Me To Hold Out' is a nice song and the vocals, drums, and piano were nice as well; 'I'm Glad' is another nice song with nice vocals and piano; 'Peace Be Still' is a nice song and the vocals and piano were also nice; 'Christ The Redeemer' is a nice song and I liked the vocals and piano; 'In God's Own Time' ('My Change Will Come') is another nice song with nice vocals and piano; 'Somehow I Can Sing' is yet another nice song with nice vocals, piano and organ. James Cleveland, in my opinion, was not the greatest Gospel singer and he sounded as though he were doing 'spoken word/rap' and not really singing.
