Is this an A3 printer as well and is it inkjet too?

No unfortunately this printer cannot take A3 paper. Even though it is a very good printer scanner.

Can this printer also be connected direct to PC via cable for intermittant wifi areas?

Yes. I use this printer and just plug it in to the power source. If you connect it to your pc, laptop and have internet connection it will perform printing etc. direct from your pc laptop. Not tried via my phone. But it is very quick at printing via my Laptop. Hope this helps.

Can you adjust the copy size

yes go into copy on the printer .go into settings and select resize in the small window in the printer and adjust by percentage.
