Great knife.
There are two versions of this knife. The one built in Portland Oregon, and this one which is made in China. The better one is SV30 steel, push button, standard military issued, and around 250 dollars. It’s heavier. Built completely out of steel. I think they’re no longer available. Haven’t seen them around in a while. This is the cheaper version. The handle is made out of something that feels like graphite, and the steel is a lower quality. Instead of a button, there’s a switch, and the blade will Fast Assist from the side with pressure from your thumb. I have the better version, and I adore it so much that I wanted the cheaper version. I primarily carry this cheaper version around because one, it’s legal in my state whereas the latter is not, and two, I figure if I lose the inferior one, it’ll be an easier loss. I’m happy with it. I’m a big fan of this Tanto Gerber knife. I’ll include a picture with both versions. The better on the left, and this one on the right.Good luck…

GERBER GOT IT RIGHT
This knife is everything I was looking for in a backup weapon. To start it is heavy enough to make me feel I can rely on it even if I had to punch a few knots in an adversary should the situation go south quicker than me being able to overcome. The handle has no sharp edges and forms a nice hilt. The thumbstuds are oversized in length and circumference but doesnt hang up on pocket material. plenty of grip length still tall and wide enough to use closed as a roll of quarters. Heavy blade so it doesnt bend or break if bone is hit. All of this and still concealable. The pocket clip is low profile so it doesnt break the ideal left handed grip. I am left handed. I have Sog.Kershaw and the Buck quickfire and this Gerber is that much better. In deploying this knife there is a mechanical sound to it and a snap when in place locked. Reminds me of my Remington 870. Just not as loud but your opponent will hear it. The safety is adequate and is set to be a bit harder to deactivate. It is made that way and for sure wont fail while in your pocket. The safety means nothing to me I dont believe in the safety in a knife. Blade is thick and no play. I always liked Gerber and feel they are like Ruger pistols and revolvers heavy well thought out over engineered and never fail. As far as tactical I just didnt think they could get it right. I was very wrong and now I have a knife with all the features and benefits for something priced to get everyone into a fighting knife without breaking the bank. Buy this knife and see how you feel carrying something that wont let you down. As far as a working knife I am sure it will fill all expected of it. can you tell how I like this knife? Havent been this excited since buying my first Colt Combat Commander! LOL

Sturdy, sharp, overall great quality.
I purchased this knife during a while ago since it was on sale. I liked the look of it and have always had good luck with Gerber products.I received the product in a timely fashion and was very pleased with it as a whole. The knife itself has a very nice feel in my hand (I have a moderately large hand) and is the right length. Another thing I liked was that the blade was secured well into the handle. From personal experience there is nothing worse than having a blade that wobbles back and forth, all that causes is loose pins and screws and a knife that falls apart too soon. This knife also has a lightly pointed metal tip on the handle that can be used as another weapon, a glass breaker, or an attachment point for a lanyard. I was very happy with the sharpness out of the box and did not have to do much sharpening after I received the blade.Overall, I feel that this is a quality knife that I turned out happy to spend my hard earned money on, I have been buying knifes for many years and this one easily ranks in the top 5 I've purchased for this price point. I would definitely buy this knife again.

Decent and good looking knife for the price.
I own plenty of knives from cheap to expensive. I would classify this one as in the middle. It is made of all metal which is good. Although it is made in China and is a little on the less sturdy/ heavy duty metal side. It opens well with the flick of your thumb on the knob attatched to the blade (both sides). It also has a lock which will keep it from possibly opening in your pocket. It has a nice sturdy clip to attatch to your pants/pocket that seems like it would be hard to bend out of place. It is nice to have the serrated edge to saw through things. The knife could definitely use a sharpening but it's not too bad and I haven't had trouble cutting through plastic/ card board. Also this is a spring assisted opening knife not a switch blade. I also own the switch blade gerber tanto knife which is made of a lot higher quality of material. It is better made and you can feel the difference in the weight. With that being said it is 3x the price of this knife. In the end I would recommend this knife and I am happy with my purchase. One thing I really like about this knife is it fits perfectly in the little 5th pocket of my jeans. (Front right little pocket)

Awesome knife!!!
I collect knives and this is, by far, one of the BEST pocketknives I’ve owned. I went to the airport and got right up to the TSA, emptied my pockets and realized that I didn’t pack my knife in my luggage, so I was forced to throw it out. HUGE bummer! I always wear a knife and I missed it terribly! I use it at LEAST once a day if not several times. I just received this replacement knife and I’m very pleased. I own several knife brands and GERBER is my personal favorite brand. I own a few different GERBER knives and they all are of very high quality. Their blades hold and keep an edge and they’re very strong and durable. When I occasionally do need to sharpen it, it will keep its edge. I love the fact that this knife is really easy to open in an instant, has serrations, and a tanto tip (which I prefer). They are long lasting due to the quality. The only issue I had with this knife is that I had to tighten the belt/pocket clip once. That’s it! I personally recommend GERBER to everyone who wants a knife that could last a lifetime!!!
