Very good documentary about a beautiful part of the world which I know quiet well. Sadly for me it's now a question more of watching other people walking the South Downs Way rather than being able to do it myself,My only reservation is that we see almost as much of the commentator (who is excellent) as we do of the countryside he's walking....but that's a criticism you can make of all TV documentaries these days.

An inspirational "uplifting" film
I bought this dvd after being very inspired by the Reverend Peter Owen Jones' presentation of the South Downs on TV. It inspired me so much I visited the area a week later. I was delighted to be able to buy this dvd so I was able to watch it before I went and then again on returning. It is full of information put across in such a relaxing and entertaining way, as Peter explores the landscapes, wildlife and people. His great love and admiration of the area shines through and one can't help but be inspired to go there.

Absolutely loved this dvd
Absolutely loved this dvd. I was born and raised on the South Downs and currently live in the Weald and can see them in the distance and this dvd just made me feel so happy and lucky to be a local in this area. Even better, my partner recognised the sheep farmer who was talking in the early part and knows that area quite well. Lovely, feel good documentary.

Engagingly eccentric, but clearly quite passionate about his subject, Peter Owen-Jones strides manfully and energetically about the South Downs making a strong case for the unique beauties of this new National Park. He rightly praises the haunting atmosphere of Kingley Vale (the largest yew-forest in Europe), but travels much further afield in his pursuit of that mysterious spirit of place that so often eludes documentary film-makers---but not in this case.

What's not to like.
What's not to like here. Engaging presenter, passionate about the place he lives. Stunning scenery and lovely music. Wish it was made as a series actually, just one hour left me wanting more. Should Amazon run out of copies, suggest emailing Bigwavetv and asking. When i did this they released more copies to Amazon!

It feeds the soul.
I was so pleased when I found that this had been released on DVD. Peter Owen Jones and the countryside of the South Downs are a sublime mix. It feeds the soul and takes the spirit to another time and place, and the photography is stunning. It is truly a joy.

... years and really wanted to see it at its best - I was not disappointed
I purchased this as I have been away from my home in West Sussex for several years and really wanted to see it at its best - I was not disappointed. This is a lovely documentary, Nick Stringer portrays the sense of place beautifully and has made me extremely home sick for my homeland.
