Exactly what I was looking for!
I recently got some nice new pots that I want to keep nice, so I have been buying silicone utensils.(By the way, Kohl's sells WONDERFUL silicone utensils made by Food Network; spoons, slotted spoons, spatulas, etc.)This is your familiar metal steamer basket, but the feet and "wings" are coated in silicone to protect your pots. The bottom/base is still exposed metal (5-3/4" across), but as long as your pot is big enough it will not touch it.When it is fully fanned out it is 8-1/2" across the top.A great feature is that the handle in the middle can be unscrewed and taken out, if you don't want it in the way(like if you're doing a whole head of cauliflower). It is very easy to wash by hand, or you can put it in the dishwasher. It also seems very sturdy. It is exactly what I was looking for to protect my new pots, a real winner!UPDATE: I have had this for almost a year now, and I still LOVE it!I see that other reviewers have had quality issues.Mine is A#1 Best Quality - the holes, etc. are perfect and the silicone is still perfect.Mine never had a funny smell to it. I sometimes hand wash it and sometimes put it in the dishwasher.

but the handle is broken so I have to wait until things cool.
I have had this for a few years. Works well at the beginning, but began to fall apart after maybe 4 months. I am still using it, but the handle is broken so I have to wait until things cool.

Serves its purpose quite well.
I was looking for a steamer that wouldn't scratchy pans, but was not floppy like the silicone type. This hit the nail on the head. The best of both worlds. It fits in my one quart pan, holds its shape for removing the food, and is easy to clean.I have been using it mostly for steaming veggies, but I've also been using it to reheat rice, for which it does an amazing job, and to defrost fruit.I couldn't be happier with it.

Must use with care on non stick
Purchased to use in Calphalon Select non stick cookware. The feet and leaves are covered in silicone protecting the pan. However, the basket ring is metal, that if not placed carefully, or when removing from pan, can mare the surface. A Bummer. xoML12/11/20 Update: This steamer required more attention about careful placement inside my non-stick Calphalon sauté pan than I cared to give. I found myself eating less steamed broccoli because of the exposed metal ring’s potential to scar my pan. The steamer also became visually ugly from the hot water and never looked clean. There are many new and better choices available now. I binned it.

Nice Little Steamer - I like it better than the metal ones.
I bought this little collapsible steamer for our "glamping" trip last summer. I've always had your standard collapsible metal steamers but I thought this would be great for our trailer and it really is. In fact, it's so nice I might buy one for my home - or steal it out of the camping supplies and switch my metal ones with this.

Disappointed
This has been a terrible ordering experience. I have gone through two orders/returns of this product despite each package having bubble wrap and no apparent outside damage. Each has been damaged prior to opening the package, in particular, the silicone on the "feet" have been broken off or found with tears. Considering that having the silicone on the "feet" would allow me to use the product on non-stick surfaces, this product was unusable for me. If it is that easy to damage - in transit? In warehouse? - then it's probably easy to break with regular use too.

Silicone on legs comes off
I originally purchased this steamer because it had the silicone covering on the legs. I was trying to prevent my pots from getting scratched from the steamer basket. After the second or third time I used it, the silicone broke off of the ends, therefore the metal legs were now directly sitting on the pot (possibly scratching)... exactly what I was trying to avoid.

Very nice steamer
This is a really nice basket and the easiest to clean of all that I have owned. Seems to be quality made.
