still good
Overall book was good. The first half was slow , second half better. I expected a little more but ending tied it together enough

good but long
Good. Captivating. Felt like it ran long and would have liked a little more mystery and suspense. Definitely had times I couldn’t put it down but don’t know if I would read it again.

a very good read
Thank you for writing this…I really enjoyed this. It held my attention and could hardly wait to find the ending. Very satisfying.

interesting book
The beginning was a bit tough to get into the book especially the characters of Bess and Joni. Eventually, it drew me in to figure out what the truth was. I would have liked a better wrapped up ending.

Better with multiple POVs?
I liked the idea of the book though it relies on the unreliable narrator trope. I think I would have like if Berman had told the story using multiple POVs rather than just Bess'. It could have used a stronger ending, but I'm not mad at Berman for leaving some things open. It was a good poolside read.

When you think you know someone…
I listened to the audio version of this, and loved the narrator, she did an excellent job. This was a good read. 3 teenage girls, living in California, discovering themselves, and who they wanted to be in the world. Evangeline and Joni came from money, and Bess was new to the area, so they took her under their wing, and they became close friends. While reading this story, you think back to your youth, and the tons of terrible mistakes that you yourself made as a young adult, and you think how one mistake could have changed the course of your life. Joni and Bess are bound by what they hold as the truth, but does Bess really know the truth? 10 years later, Joni finds herself in need of Beth’s help as her fiancée is missing. As more truths reveal themselves in the present case, the tragedy of their past comes back to light. I do feel like the ending could have given us a little more, but overall it was a good read.

Not My Favorite
I usually like the Reese Witherspoon books, but this one did not do much for me. I did not like or sympathize with any of the characters, so it was really hard to look for a happy ending. And it really didn't have one either. This is one of those novels that tries to get into the heads of the characters, and there really wasn't any resolution of any of the problems. It is about 3 girls, events that happened when they were 18, and then 10 years later. When they were 18, one died and the others' lives were ruined, so there is absolutely nothing uplifting about this book. I think the writing is o.k., but I thought the plot wasn't very interesting. Just my two cents.

Repetitive. Unfinished ending. And too long.
This was our book club pick. I would not haven chosen this for myself based on the description. This book should’ve ended about 150 pages before it did. While it hooked me quickly, it just drug on and on. I felt like a few sentences and/or paragraphs were repeated several times. And to top it off, you never get the answers. I was so upset and disappointed when I realized I read the last page.I do not recommend this book.

Spannendes Buch über eine Freundschaft
Das Buch ist toll geschrieben und zeigt sehr schön die Höhen und Tiefen einer Freundschaft und wie unterschiedlich mit einer Tragödie umgegangen wird.

Fast read
A bit slow to start, picks up speed around the middle of the book. Better as a young adult read

Just loved every minute of it!
So well told. Just a fantastic read. I could have read this flat out in one sitting but found myself ratioining it because it was so good... and as I got to the final pages I shut myself away to savour the ending. One of my favourite reads... and I read alot! I could taste Greece and feel the heat in Bess' house. So evocative of teenage years and all that comes after. Blomin loved it.
