The Monolith M1060C planar headphones are the perfect way to experience your music collection. The M1060C features a completely redesigned and engineered planar driver, producing a detailed aural landscape in a closed back enclosure. Spectacular imaging, low distortion, and perfectly balanced sound make the Monolith M1060C a true audiophile listening experience.Planar Drivers: Not your typical headphone driver! The planar driver in the M1060C has been completely redesigned and engineered versus the driver found in the M1060. Several enhancements have been made, including a new symmetrical magnet structure that allows the planar driver to be much more efficient in a closed back enclosure. The result is low distortion, improved linearity, and spectacular imaging in a closed back design.Closed Back Design: Outside noise stays out and only the music stays in! The 1060C delivers excellent audio isolation, allowing the sonic landscape to not be disturbed by the outside world, and the outside to not be disturbed by your music. This makes the M1060C the perfect audiophile choice for those that may need to listen in less than silent environments.Comfort: The Monolith M1060C has been engineered to be comfortable for extended listening sessions. Large, comfy earpads made of faux leather and a padded headband are designed to keep you comfortable as you listen.

Great headphone for the price, needs better QC
First off. Right side rattles (not much, but very obviously affects listening pleasure) when playing bass music at high volume. Tested with different players and cables. Same issue. Left side is fantastic.Overall build quality is quite good for the price. Hits those lows, mids, and highs very well compared to other planar magnetic headphones. Just not as smooth sounding. Maybe it require more burn-in.Tested with several computers and smartphones playing lossless music (mostly FLAC), to DAC/AMP Centrance HiFi M8, to these headphones. Used both the OEM Monoprice 3.5mm analog and after market silver-plated hi-res 4pin XLR balanced cables. Same rattling issues across the board. At moderate volume the rattling isn't so bad. But knowing that it's there just kills the listening experience.Going to attempt and exchange to see if it can be better.

unbeatable sound for the money, build quality lets it down
Just got these headphones today and here is my initial impressions.Ok so i have always had starter gear here is a gear of stuff i have owned.HD600 (current)MSR-7DT990DT770K712Hyper X CloudHD598I will be comparing the HD600 as these have been my fav set and my reference for what is good.Ok straight of the bat.. WOW! that low end is amazing coming from the sharp MSR7 and relaxed low end of the HD600, like seriously the sub bass this thing can manage is pretty amazing, especially on a track like James Blake 'Limit to your love' it really feels like there going to vibrate off my head! But the best thing about the low end is that it feel so snappy and responsive and really does not bleed into vocals at all. The bass is so tight absolutley no feeling of muddiness.Soundstage and imaging again is absolutely top notch, absolutely destroying the HD600 (which is famous for not great soundstage) really really impressive for a closed set of headphones.Highs are also very nicely handled, they certainly do not have the crunch or sparkle as some of the Beyerdynamics i have tried but still sound very nice, I personally prefer the way my MSR7 handles the highs though.Details are very nice i can pick up lots of subtle cues in the tracks that can be missed on lesser headphones, it doesn't quite beat the HD600 for that but it's not far off.Overall i absolutely love what these headphones can do, they have a balanced sound signature with an absolutely slamming low end which adds great fun, and i know it might be new toy syndrome but i think i prefer it over the HD600.I wish they were sold more easily in EU, i had to import from Amazon, but they sound awesome for the money they cost. I needed closed cans for an open office and they tick the sound box but....I REALLY hate the headband and cup design, yes this is already well documented but i hate how the cups swivel around and twist up all the time it really does but a downer on the headphone but its worth living with. I was worried about the weight when i picked them up but the weight honestly melts away when on my head no issues at all.Hope this can be of use to someone, im not technically minded and for sure dont have the most anaylitcal ears.

When you try your best but you don't succeed...
Pros: Good bass extension, nice wooden cups, modifications can be made.Cons: Uncomfortable, heavy as hell, annoying peak in the midrange between 1 and 2 khz that is unbearable, glued on earpads, bass quantity not enough, treble is mostly dark, but has some annoying peaks in the upper ranges, but most annoying is this headphone appears to never have been tuned properly. The damping in the cups are 2 free-floating discs of foam and the driver is covered by a loose adhesive paper. If the damping and driver cover resulted in a better frequency response, I'd maybe understand, but a 12 decibel peak from 1 to 2 khz is complete negligence in my book. There is no way I would recommend these considering I had to RMA my 1st pair as the left driver stopped working 10 minutes into using them and the right driver started cutting in and out. Cable is microphonic as all hell too. I'd recommend a Fostex T50rp which sell for half of this price. Even stock, the t50rp sounds better and is more comfortable. I admire what Monoprice is trying to do here, but they failed to execute properly. Whoever approved of the final tuning of this headphone should be imprisoned.

Excellent sound balance with the characteristic fast impulse bass response of a lPlanar headphone
A bit heavy on the head and for some, causing overly warm ears after prolonged listening sessions. Headband is flimsy, with the spot welded threaded boss on the left side giving way after only a half dozen or so wearings. No response from Monoprice customer service on the availability of replacement parts after several weeks of repeated emails, but I can perhaps fix this myself.Despite the poor wearability and flimsy headband build quality, they sound excellent.
