Sturdy pegs. I needed the 1/4" size (about 6mm) for my late-1990s cabinets-- the 5mm were distinctly too small.The upper side of each peg is flat. If installed in an appropriately sized holes, these pegs should be stronger than the plastic supports cabinets like mine came with. Those grow brittle with age and use, and are prone to snapping under load.I found the holes in my cabinets were not perfectly placed so every so occasionally I have a shelf that rests on only 3 pegs. But at least these pegs won't snap. Recommended.

These pins measure 2.90mm, which is probably the ideal size for fitting in a 3mm hole.

Because Amazon is obsessive about haranguing people into giving a review, I am writing this. The product was the wrong size for my shelf. I didn't send it back because I'm lazy. I found the right size at a local hardware store. They worked fine. So, check your local hardware store before ordering from Amazon. Why is Amazon insisting on reviews for something so mundane? I have no clue. The product was average because the product category is average.

I originally bought the big box brand of pegs, but when I compared them to the Kreg ones, supplied with the shelf peg kit, I realized how much lighter and poorer quality they were. Weird though, none of the 1/4 inch or 5m shelf pegs fits snugly in the respective drill holes. Got a mm set of brad point bits and the 6mm makes a perfect hole for the 1/4 inch, snug enough but still adjustable. Tried these RoK and love the heft of them and the width of the spoon. They just feel like something that should last and last. Like them even better than the Kreg supplied 4 pegs. The price of the Kreg pegs was out of sight.

These will work for IKEA Billy Bookcases to add extra shelves of your own. But they are a bit small. At 3mm they are a little lose and a bit small in size for these shelves. I would suggest one size up, going to 4mm but the 5mm which are standard at Lowes are too big.

As other reviewers have noted, this pin is under 3mm. By exactly how much I don't know, but they are too slender for my purposes, and 4mm is way too big. I don't have a tool to measure the exact size of the shelf holes other than my ruler, but 3mm seemed closest. Very disappointing, as I will need to try another solution.

These replaced plastic ones that were holding up my shelves and had begun to break. These are sturdy, easy to install, and fit the shelf holes securely.

I wanted to make a custom bookcase to go under an island I was wishing that the shelves wouldn't have to be in a fixed position, and that I had enough of these pegs left over from previous installations. Then I thought, I can't be the only one who loses these, or makes a custom shelf and wants them, they must sell them somewhere. YES, they do! Thank you! Now I can adjust my shelves depending on what I need to store.

Just what I needed

The spoon was great for the ikea shelves I wanted to support but the length of the pin was far too short to give me trust in its ability to support the shelves.
