From the Publisher Review: A classic book - A book for my nephews birthday, his father loves it when he was a kid so I knew this was perfect. Came exactly as described no errors or issues! Review: Excellent story and illustrations. - Love, love, love this book! Helen Oxenbuy's illustrations are always wonderful. In this book she does a beautiful and entertaining job of showing the story so that even if very young children don't quite get the meaning of all of Martin Waddell's words they will understand what's going on. This has been one of my (adult) daughter's very favorite books since she was three years old.

It's a great book for young children. It has been a lifetime favorite of one of my grandchildren.
It was a gift along with a small quilt with farm animals for a young child.

I have loved this book since the first day I read it
I have loved this book since the first day I read it. Since my family and I live on a farm we have had lots of occasions to ask, "How goes the work?'. The proper answer, of course, is always "QUACK!" It has come to be a multi-generational (4) inside family joke. One of my granddaughters came upon a group of girls diligently studying the Russian language. Without thinking she asked, "How goes the work, girls?" She heard one girl say,"QUACK!" My granddaughter was so excited about that response that she screamed with delight! She said that was the first time anyone who wasn't a member of her family had known the "correct response" to that question. It is a very simple but lifetime-learning book in spite of its few pages. I am buying a copy of the book today for a man in my adult Sunday School class who, when I asked the class, "How goes the work?" was the only one with the right answer. He is going to get the Farmer Duck award.

One of the sweetest books of all time. Great lesson in fairness, hard work, and likability :) Lots of fun sounds to make, keeps the littles super entertained but is also a good quick read.
