That depends on your physique. I'm quite large busted (DD), but I prefer the shelf bra, because I don't need all that underwire support and padding. If you're a bit saggy, this is not going to fix that. It's more about sway, than support. Also, the shelf bra and the shirt are the same size, so if you go for a looser fit in the shirt, the same will go for the bra - so even less supportive. I'm an XL or XXL in most things, so I ordered an XXl here. Just got it washed today, and it's a bit roomy after the wash, so I'd go for an XL next time, if your on the border between two sizes. I wear mine snug, for bed, and use them as my PJs at night. Cool, but still some control. Nice and soft, though. Feels good on.

This might be uncomfortable because it has a built-in shelf bra.
