The Personality Puzzle

This was the perfect book to compliment my leacture-heavy-powerpoint-deprived psych class! My professor straight talked for an hour and fifteen minutes every tuesday and thursday with NO visuals on the board or powerpoints of any kind. This made it hard to focus and I often found myself browsing facebook, or playing games on my laptop instead of listening. I know I even spent some time on amazon during that class just browsing fun and entertaining things I wished I could buy. I'm a visual learner so I didn't learn much in that class.This book was a lifesaver. I got all of my necessary information, to pass this class with an A , from this book. It was easy to read, and the included visuals really helped. I always attended class but I am confident that I could've passed the class solely by reading this book and not ever going (I AM NOT RECOMMENDING DOING THAT, HOWEVER! NOR DO I ENDORSE OR ENCOURAGE THAT. Always go to class, kids.) Anyways, great book. I would highly recommend it.

Funder is the leading expert in Psychologists in Personality Psychology. His has published a large amount of articles and done many experiments in in his field. He is also a professor in Berkeley one of the best graduate schools for psychology. When writing about the experiments he has done he also describes his experiences doing them; which is fascinating for a person going into the field of research. He not only mentions theories and explains complicated material well, he states his own opinions and brings up questions about many of the concepts that are great fundations for further research, theories and topics. His footnotes can be hilariously funny to read and his "Funder's laws" mentioned in the book are very insightful. It may be difficult to understand for someone who is new to psychology. It is my favorite psychology book I have read and one of the few I reread.

Bought it used as I have done in the past . However, this is the first time I’ve ever received a book with so much highlighting and side notes in it. It’s ok as I know the risks with buying a used book and am ok with it. But definitely something worth mentioning.The book itself is great easy to read well written and has loads of useful information.

This textbook is the most interesting I have ever read. It was one of those ones that I could continue reading even if the material presented in the chapter did not interest me at all and found the topic boring. I like how Dr. Funder places some of his opinions in and backs up his thoughts with the research on it with a bit of humor added in. It feels like he is actually out to get us to think instead of just throwing out page after page of drivel like most textbooks with the authors getting paid by the word. Though Dr. Funder’s book does go on and on at times, he still makes it interesting.

This book was required for a class I took and it was perfect for that! I believe we had it for General Psychology

Funder's original Personality Puzzle was great and it keeps getting better. I would use this book for Personality 101 or a graduate seminar and both audiences would find it very worthwhile. He has good content, he is lucid, has a sense of humor and thinks practically. Hard to find those in one author.

This was for my daughter. She said great book going to keep in her collection for future use.

This book helps with studying for Dr. Funder's class, because it's just an extended version of his lecture notes, so you usually get the stories that he talks about in class and more explanation from the book since he doesn't always have time to go in depth on everything he wants to talk about.

Arrived promptly. Clearly written, very organised text on personality.

Useful book, love the style.

When I received the text book there were some pages at the back corner that were folded, this could have just been becuase of shipping. But the front cover has a bunch of creases in it like it was folded in half, which would not happen in a package.
