I, like many other people, suffer from anxiety. In addition, I had been mourning the loss of my two elderly cats who passed away this past year. I recently got a weighted stuffed animal (a rabbit) to act as a comfort to me. It was pretty good. But then I got this weighted lap cat, and it is perfect.I can't recommend this enough. The past several days I have slept so much better. It has a flat weighted blanketlike area in the middle, with paws, a head and a tail in soft grey fur. The entire thing weighs about 5 lbs. The way it is designed made it far superior to the previous weighted animal I had tried. The lap cat can be draped across my chest when i go to sleep at night -- the comfortable weight reminds me of the lead apron that the dentist uses when you get an xray. It's a soft and gentle weight, and no matter how you drape the 'lap cat' it stays comfortably like a hug.I have slept much better since sleeping with it. I can see how it would be calming as a lap blanket as well... perhaps for anxious travelers. Whether for adults or children, this is a comforting, calming, and welcoming addition to bedtime.

When this arrived, I couldn't wait to feel it to see how soft it was. I was worried that it would feel like a cheap kids' toy that looks soft but has a rough, stiff feel to the fur. Oh. My. Goodness!! I was shocked at how soft the fur on this cat is!! It made me think of feeling real fur. It is so soft that it is easy to wonder if you are really even touching it. The cat also has a nice weight to it. It is comforting to have it lying on my lap, but even cradling it in my arms is comforting to me.I (reluctantly) have it sitting as a new addition to the calming corner in my office. I am reluctant because, as much as I love the idea of students being able to appreciate the comfort of it, I don't relish the idea of them possibly getting it dirty or germy. As I look at the possibility of getting another one for the house, I am seeing what a great deal this cat is, too. Other animals I am seeing out there are much more expensive.

I can't believe how much my soon to be 8 y/o son loves this. His teacher recommended a weighted lap blanket for him because he's been having trouble sitting and concentrating for long periods of time in the classroom (he has recently been diagnosed with mild ADHD). I saw this one with a cat and I hesitated to get it thinking he might think it was too cute and be embarrassed to bring it to school, but he LOVES it. As soon as he took it to school, his teacher reported that he was doing more school work and able to stay focused for longer. If I could give this ten stars I would. It's very soft and cuddly. My 9 y/o son said he wants one, too. I even tried it out myself and the heavy weight and soft fabric was comforting to me. I can see why he likes it. He has named it Floppy and says he loves him.

This is a combination stuffed animal weighted blanket type item. It is a great size and weight to act as a weighted blanket for a child, and is also a stuffed animal that a child can carry around. These types of items are good for calming and anxiety. Personally, I can put this on my lap and the weight is enough to help me take a nap (which I struggle to do even when exhausted). The cat face is cute and the material is very soft. It comes with instructions for how to clean it including how to remove the inside and reattach. The only thing I wish this had that some other weighted stuffed animals have is aromatherapy.
