Great for underwater content!
Having a chance to use this camera abroad was amazing. I can honestly say this has been a great little camera so far. Being a professional photographer for a living, It's been drilled into me that water + camera equipment = bad. However, using this camera take talke some underwater images has been nothing but fun! This camera definitely won't have the same quality as say a Sony A7iii, or even the same quality as a semi decent phone camera. The camera is 16mp with a digital zoom, so straight out the box you should have an idea of the quality you'll get out of the images. The videos I would say don't look too bad at all, but you still won't get 4k quality and no more than 30fps from what I can tell. However, if you're getting this camera, you're getting it because you want a unit that can handle alot of knocks and bumps and again, the ability to take videos and images underwater. That in itself is worth sacrificing a little bit of image quality I would say. I've been able to get quite low underwater with the camera, about the length of 3 or 4 average sized men. So I'd say the camera is more than capable of withstanding most anything you'd be using it for. The size of the camera is also great for travelling. It could easily fit in you're pocket or clip onto a bag strap if you're looking to take some action videos! Personally, i'd say the price for this camera is worth it if you're looking for a product that can take some abuse whilst shooting outside in the real world elements. Definitely consider this for your next holiday camera!

Impressive for what it is
Well, this is going to be a long one. So, as a regular camera, it's not top quality. It's picture and video quality is far worse than your average phone camera. It's built in memory also quite small with 66Mb, so an additional memory card is strongly adviced. However, as a camera built to withstand abuse and underwater conditions, it's great. It takes some time to get used to the sealing mechanism, but it's easy to use afterwards and they do protect the camera from water damage. Unfortunately I wasn't able to show it on the video (Out of the box. Wasn't setup or charged.), but the camera did work perfectly after dropping it into the water. It needed a first time charge and basic location/time zone setups, but that's understandable. It can be charged with any micro-usb cable as far as I can tell, but you need an actual micro-usb data cable to dowbload the images. Luckily that one is provided as the dedicated charging cable. Overall, I like it, but I do agree with many others, that this is a really expensive and specialized purpose camera. And as such, I can only recommend it for it's dedicated purpose. For more generic use, cheaper cameras or even phone cameras will easily out perform it.

Just received, but posting info to help others
I've only just received this camera and it looks impressive and is VERY solid. Due to the waterproof nature however it's a little tricky to get going - The battery door has a latch which you need to move up, but then the base of it says PUSH and well, this is an instruction for closing! The door slids out, away from the push direction. I figured it out, by working out how the USB/HDMI slot worked, which i found easier to get into. You need to install the battery to charge it, with the universal power brick - I'll also add that it is a mini usb or possibly propriatary connector, not USB-C which is a little disapointing The manual is THICK but multi-language and only a few pages in English which is all about the set-up. No instructions on how to use it - Seems the pdf is on Ricoh not Pentax - Probably worth a read before buying as at £365 it's not a casual purchase!

Decent underwater camera, though the specs are dated for 2024
One previous reviewer mentioned a propitiatory charging connector - this camera allows you to charge using a microUSB connector. The camera itself works well - it is waterproof, and you will need a memory card for it (as you do with almost every other camera). The biggest problem for me though is that considering the price, the specs are far below what you would expect in 2024. It only has 1080p recording, and the picture resolution is low. One thing to say is that the camera supports a lot of really specific picture modes - to use the optimal settings in every situation would require you to remember exactly which setting to use. I think they could have reduced this by half. If this camera had come out in 2016, then I would probably have recommended it.

It's a RICOH WG-80 only with a more renowned badge. This is essentially a Pentax WG-3 GPS without a GPS and a Qi charging coil. By the way WG-3 is still alive and able to take pictures (still waterproof 10 years later - seals never replaced).
