There are quite a few items for the cost in this kit. It comes in a thin cardboard box with a thin non-recyclable plastic tray. I’d much rather see all paper packaging. Several of the items were displaced inside the box during transit but nothing was damaged. The orange is great for visibility after you set things down in the grass.The itemsThe filet knife is large. Nice flexibility and an edge that’s ready to work. The blade is about 7.5 inches as is the cutting edge. The handle is ergonomic, with great contouring. The orange part is rubber. It fills my large hand completely. I like how breathable the sheath is and retention is right. You can push up on the latching tab to release it easily and it pops in with a snap when you close it. The sheath does rattle on the blade but not terribly.The hook grabber seems like the part that will probably break, but maybe it will surprise me. A little sloppy with the thin plastic moving part and the metal pin, but the metal tube is non magnetic, probably aluminum. The function is fine and design seems like it will work as intended.The fish lip grabber works like a pair of vice grips. All ABS plastic feeling, but feels solid and has a satisfying snap on open or close. A high point for the kit, and a clever design with an interlocking fin to keep the jaws aligned.The quick bungee straps are simple, but the elastic and plastic feel solid and I expect they will last a long time. The design of needing to slip the choke down to secure the ball means they take two hands to operate, but the release tab is nice.The pliers are quite stiff and they are not spring loaded. The design of the jaws is good and alignment is great. Cutters came sharp. I like that there a little taper at the nose instead of it being flat. Also like that they have the snap ring tooth at the end. The handle is the same orange rubber found elsewhere in the kit. I’d say they’re a little on the small side handle wise, but that means they are light and don’t take up a ton of space.The rubber handle scissors are interesting. Small and comfortable. The steel from the scissor blades runs into the straight inside part of the handle only but they seem very secure. I couldn’t get them to move on the handles at all. The snap cover for them can go on either way and has a nice snap retention. I wouldn’t have minded seeing extra ventiliation in the sheath but that could be added. There’s also a loop at the tip for attachment.The retractable line works okay and is about 3 feet long. The clip at the end is a little hard to operate, but that means it’s going to stay closed securely with the spring tension. It doesn’t have a lock to keep it extended if you wanted to have the line stay out on its own.

I love this set. It has everything you need for a decent price. I love the quality of the items too; you can tell they were made well and last. I've used them in both salt and freshwater. I had to oil the scissors and pliers a couple times to keep them smooth due to them not drying out properly, but they are still as good as new. Out of all the items, I definitely use the braid scissors the most. They have a good grip and are east to use. They have been able to cut through anything so far. The most I've used to use them with is 60lbs fluro.

This is a great set of tools. It has just about everything you’ll need and it is great quality and price. Kast King continues to impress!

wish i had bought this first. for the price every item is very good. The knife is sharp enough to filet. pliers are quality as well. Hook disgorger was a needed item as i release fish often and try to not harm them. the grippers open wide and they are preferred over putting your thumb into a toothy fish. pleased with this purchase. good value for the price.

About what you'd expect for the price -- black non-stick anti-corrosive finish on every tool (rather than good quality, moisture and salt-resistant stainless)."Better keep all of these oiled -- they look like they'll corrode fast when the black finish wears off."The filleting knife -- like the other tools in this set -- "will do," but that's just about it: I won't look forward to using it or any other item in the set. All tools here are just a little clumsy in the hand and nowhere near the quality I'd hoped for.As an example, I'll be sticking with the (small) Finnish knife I bought this one to replace -- probably giving this one away rather than leaving it in its box or throwing it on a shelf. The other tools in this set I'll put into my tackle box -- but only 'til I find better ones to replace them, if you know what I mean.
