Q: Can the slot holding the salad plates fit bowls instead?

It depends on the measurements of your salad bowls. If you are looking at the top of the dish/cup/utensil holder the long piece along the back is 11.75" long and 2" wide. The section in the front is 8" long and 3.5" wide.

Q: I'm trying to find the dish set that are in the picture can anyone help me out I know people have a lot of problems finding the right size cups

We took the rack to Walmart and found the plates, bowls and cups to fit the rack ...as for the coffee cups..the one's in the photo must be really tiny and to small for us to use ...we could only find 2 to fit, but that all we need anyway..

That should work. We have 4 Corelle dinner plates in the large compartment, then add 6-8 heavy duty paper plates. And it all fits. 6 Corelle plates should fit no problem. The smaller compartment has 4 smaller Corelle plates and 4 Corelle bowls. It's a tight fit (have to pull out all dishes). But for our camper, that is ideal.

Q: what are the cup holder internal dimensions?

My boat is stored away for the winter but the cup/mug holder space is narrow. We had to find mugs to fit. Very happy with the piece though. The quality is decent and is acceptable for my MacGregor 26S sailboat. On a nicer boat like a Beneteau, etc, it might look a bit cheap.
