Crime investigations against a stunning seaside backdrop are at the heart of this entertaining drama series following a high-flying solicitor who returns to live and work in the small town she escaped as a teenager. As coroner, Jane Kennedy’s job is to investigate sudden or unexplained deaths in this beautiful English coastal community. The Coroner combines mystery and potential danger with the warm, lighthearted tone of Jane’s relationships with her colleagues, family and the local community. Review: In many places the coroner has to have legal training including some places in the US - I liked the show and it got better towards the end of the season. I found it strange that in the UK one had to be a lawyer (solicitor or barrister) in order to be a coroner. That got me thinking because I thought in the US one had to have medical training to be a coroner (i.e. Quincy) but that is not the case in some places in the US. The coroner's job is to state the cause of death and unless the person that died was under medical care up until their death, the coroner did an investigation if they thought the death was not natural. The main character is the coroner who returns to the town she grew up in and the lead police person is an old flame of the coroners. At times it seems like he is long over her and at other times it looks like he'd still like to rekindle that relationship but most of the time he disagrees with her and often admits that she was right and he was wrong. Things get a little weirder with her mom and her relationships. Her mom desires that her daughter (the coroner) live with her but because it's her house she & her boyfriend are very vocal & visual about their passion for each other. The writing is good, the locale is often times beautiful as the town is a coastal town. The accents are thicker than usual but still understandable by this "Yank". Sorry to hear that only two seasons of the show were made. Looking forward to the 2nd season Review: Great stories and characters. - My wife and I love this series.

Great story lines
I have been watching this on Public television and like it enough that I wanted to see more episodes. It is a great cast of characters and the story lines catch your attention and keep you watching. There is some humor added in too. It is a nice change from the same old shows in the US

Love this series except...
I gave this series a four-star because while it's an engaging show, the underlying love story is mostly annoying and a distraction from the good story lines and the who-dunnit format. The love story gives one the feeling of watching a Hallmark movie.

I highly recommend this murder mystery TV series!
This is an excellent murder mystery TV series. The plots have lots of twists and turns, the characters are really good, and I like the locations where the stories take place. The chemistry between the two lead characters is wonderful!

One episode was too many
ugh. boring. and the characters are awful. not the actresses' fault I guess but the coroner's mother and daughter are terrible. And her ex? What is going on? Smple and stupid and no true mystery.

THE CORONER
I was disappointed to read that this series was cancelled in the UK after two seasons. I really enjoy watching so I bought both seasons. The lady coroner solves mysteries and helps bring the perps to justice. It has humor, a touch of romance and lots of exciting adventures for those of us who love British programs. You'll enjoy it.

Welcome to the family
Single mom raised by single mom raising her own child. What a whirlwind of quirky behavior! The family would be fun as neighbors. Greatly enjoyable main characters.

We love the characters in this show. especially the Coroner herself and Davey, the cop. The stories are great and have both drama and humour, a great combination for being entertained.

I like this show. It has 10 episodes in this DVD set. The series takes place in a small town in England. The main character is called whenever there is a death. Both her and a police officer investigate the deaths to determine their cause which often is murder. The stories are well-written with believable characters.

I'm so disappointed that there are only two seasons. This could have gone on for at least five seasons. It's that good. If the series does get picked up, I'd like them to lose the obnoxious Beth.

We really enjoyed the stories and acting. However, the quality of the discs was unsatisfactory. There was frequent pixelating of the image.
