Batman Beyond: 10,000 Clowns

I am not new to Batman or graphic novels. I've read most of the highly regarded Batman graphic novels, watched all the movies, the animated series, and Batman Beyond. I'm kind of nuts about Batman. Having said that, this is one of the best stories I've ever read.I absolutely love the Batman Beyond universe. The first season of the tv show was amazing. I loved seeing old Bruce and what became of him and some of his enemies. Seasons two and three started to get too kid friendly but it was still a great series. Hush Beyond was very good but Industrial Revolution was lacking. I was kind of skeptical going in to 10,000 Clowns. After Industral Revolution I was seriously questioning the direction of this series. Boy am I glad I kept going.Throughout the animated series I always thought the Jokers gang was pretty silly. They looked lame and I just couldn't take them as serious threats. This graphic novel changes all that. After being united under a new villain who anoints himself as the Joker King they unleash chaos on Gotham in a way that Joker never could do by himself. Although the Joker King is obviously not as good as the original he is wicked and carries on the legacy in a respectable way. Anarchy and nihilism reign supreme and it tests Batman and his allies like they have never been tested before. 10,000 Clowns is a masterpiece.The opening story with Mad Stan is kind of weak but needed for the set up. However, the middle story about a character known as Jake is awesome and has a great twist.Overall I would highly recommend this to any Batman fan. If you like Batman Beyond DON'T MISS THIS! Terry has found his nemesis.

I'm a fan of the Batman Beyond TV show, and only recently started reading the comics based in that universe (Earth-12, as I believe it's officially designated). Batman Beyond: 10,000 Clowns is illustrative of all the reasons why I think the Beyond universe is great: the mix of old continuity and the creation of new and interesting characters, the exploration of being a cape over the long term (physically, emotionally, etc), and the excellent writing. 10,000 Clowns wasn't really a case story so much as it was a crisis story (I mean all-hands-on-deck-in-Gotham kind of crisis, like the earthquake, not Crisis as in DC-reboot). It was meant to introduce a couple of apparently key players to the Beyond universe (Vigilante, the Joker King) and expand upon established characters in the context of the Beyond universe (Catwoman, Max, Terry, Dick, and Tim) in an interesting way. In my opinion, 10,000 Clowns has succeeded on all counts. I loved the story; it is something that I would recommend to others, especially to fans of the TV show.

It really is intriguing to see Terry McGinnis, back in action after the animated series was canceled back in 2001, and this time the writes explore more mature topic they were unable to show it in the original series. I’m looking forward for the next installment

Buy this book, because I was a great fan of the original animated series; but what came as a total surprise to me was how much my eleven year old son loved it; I had to fight to get it away from him. Now have ordered the other 2 books in the series he can't wait to get them. Now that said, i will go into the review; the book his a excellent continuation of the tv series, and deal with more mature subject. The drawing was good, and gave good representation of the characters from the animated series. Also so of the old characters from the original batman were brought back; Tim drake, Dick Grayson, and new characters introduced, like a new catwoman and a new vigilante.All in all it is a very good story telling, and hoping to collect all the books in the series to see how this pan out.

10,000 Clowns is great. The previous volumes of 'Batman Beyond' remind the reader of the rich world created by the early 2000s tv show and the brilliant premise of a geriatric Bruce Wayne coaching a protege via radio link. This volume realizes the potential of continuing that universe. Only criticism I have is that the book makes old Bruce a bit soft/sentimental, but that is balanced by the reader's love of watching 'the band' get back together. This is a great book.

The best of all the Batman Beyond comics. I won't spoil the details but it has a great mix of internal and external conflicts. It has a very epic set of conflicts without going crazy over the top like many comic stories do.

I got this because i was picking up a few comic series here and there and I love Batman Beyond, it is my favorite cartoon series to-date. The drawings are really good and the story is cool to. If you are a fan of Batman Beyond, or just want to see Batman in the future pick this up.

This is not a bad book. It's rather good. But Beechen fails to properly capture the characters' personality. It feels like watching people play dress up. The art is...not awful. The more rounded look does not help the originally angular designs, and the faces are less than great, but the artist is skilled and does a good enough job. The volume ends abruptly, and is missing the epilogue. My advice, go straight on to Batman Beyond 2.0 by Kyle Higgins. Better story and better art. If you need to read all things Beyond, though, this is worth a read.
