Great card to add 2 HDMI ports to a PC that already has a modern Nvidia GTX or RTX GPU
This is the 4th GPU I have purchased trying to find a compatible card. I already have a RTX 2080 in my PC, and I was using it to support 1 x display port monitor and 1 x HDMI monitor. I wanted to add another HDMI monitor to my setup, and wanted to be able to run both HDMI displays off the new card, allowing the 2080 to focus on just my display port monitor. Unfortunately as many of you know, most modern GTX and RTX GPUs will only have a single HDMI port. Plus I didn't want to spend that much just to run 2 x HDMI monitors. I considered the USB to HDMI adapters but they had too many negative reviews saying they ran hot and eventually died. I found several Nvidia GPUs with some even having 4 x HDMI ports on a single card. The main problem is when running multiple Nvidia GPUs, they all have to support the same drivers. Most of the smaller GPUs like the GT 730, or smaller GPUs, are using older Nvidia drivers. The problem is you can't run an older driver for your older Nvidia GPU and then run a newer driver for the GTX or RTX GPU. So after figuring this out and doing some research, I determined that the GT 1030 is supported by the same modern drivers as the newer GTX and RTX GPUs. As a result it was just plug and play since I was already running a RTX 2080 in my system. I haven't tried pushing this card, because really I am just using it to have some extra desktop space for work. Only time will tell if it lasts. Card can also be controlled via EVGA Precision which is nice. It might have been a little pricey considering its relatively weak on specs, but it gets the job done.
