Great little book for non-math types
I love patchwork and enjoy making patterns, but many of my students do not. I say "drafting" and they say, "good-bye!" This wonderful book shows clearly and simply how to accurately draw all kinds of interesting shapes. I wish I'd written it, but at least I can recommend it to those curious about creating their own patterns. The diagrams are large and easy to understand. Following the clearly phrased instructions, various shapes emerge with an ease that delights. "I see, I see" how lines and angles are "found" and the possibilities are endless. The book takes a philosphical look at geometry too, which is fun to read after "playing." After a career as a graphic artist, at last I know how to draw a perpendicular line without a t-square! Priceless.

Excellent book
Started teaching my grandson geometry based on what I recalled from 8th grade (thank you, Mrs. Fisher). He is into SCA costume design. This book takes me in a different direction with neat stuff I hope he enjoys.

Nice for the basics
My son is using this book while doing a Geometry course. He enjoys constructions and this gives him a bit more exposure than what his Geometry program provides. It's a fun little book.

Artist/Illustrators guide to drawing geometric figures
I am a retired Boeing Technical Illustrator/Artist, and found the designs quite well illustrated, and explained. I never knew how to make anything larger than an 8 sided figure. This book outlines the planning and layouts of up to 13 sided figures! The designs are works of art in themselves, and how a person can come up with a pentagram from a hexagon, was fantastic! Jon even has an illustration containing all the shapes from three sided to ten sided in one circle radiating from the same bottom base line. And for the Mathmatical Geometry junkies out there, there are from page 65 to 84, rough freehand geometric calculations using scientific notations i.e. Sin, CoSin, Tan, and Square roots to probe the accuracy and construction of each drawing! WOW!Soooo...If you are not totally right handed, and could never fully figure out what all that jargon means, the front of the book has it drawn out in very Artistic left handed, and right brained, accuracy! I highly recommend this book to anybody willing to stretch the inner workings of both his/her left and right brained capabilities!

Don't just read it, DO it... Follow along with your own tools. Store it in the shop!
A clearly organized, easy to read manual for building geometric constructions with very basic tools. A must for anyone working with wood or metal. The techniques clearly presented in these pages will make manual parts layout faster, and your results better.

Spirtiual Forward - not just Geometry
I am an artist looking to improve my understanding of Geometry to improve drawing skillsI was not looking for a book with any spiritual significance. Here are a few quotes from the forward for anyone else who would find this troubling : "Geometry is philosophical to many and therefore a scared art/ science. ….traditionally in the unchanging Divine Mind, …. Geometry into the deeper realms of it timeless nature, a nature which touches upon the mystery of how we may move from imprisonment of time into the freedom of eternity"I was looking for geometry and drawing not a spiritual enlightenment - so although the exercises looked promising I decided to return the book.
