Qigong Basics: Five Element Practices for Health and Wellbeing Warmups for Joints and Organs + Five Elements Qigong + Five Element Mudras and Finishing Forms Qigong (chi kung) is an energy and intention-based practice that works with the principles of xing ming shuang xiu, meaning ‘the body and spirt are equally cultivated and refined’. Qi means ‘life force’ and gong means ‘to cultivate or build’. Thus qigong is the cultivation of life energy. While sometimes our qi can be healthy, balanced and flowing, when we are stressed, tense, or unwell, it can become stuck, stagnant, deficient or excessive. Regular practice of the sequences in this element-based qigong series can help maintain or rebalance the flow of energy in your body, supporting its innate ability to abide in a more balanced, healthy, natural state. Qigong Flow: The Eighteen Forms and Eight Brocades for Organ and Meridian Health Eight Brocades (Ba Duan Jin 八段锦) + Eighteen Forms (Shibashi 十八式) In this qigong video, Mimi presents two well-known and accessible forms of qigong practice: the Eight Brocades (Ba Duan Jin), and the Eighteen Forms (Shibashi). They also are designed to promote health and balance in the body’s organ and meridian systems. Eight Brocades: This section includes the Eight Brocades practices that works specifically to increase health and vitality in the organs, meridians and their associated emotional qualities. Just Perfect
Years ago I had a VHS tape of the 18 movement Qi Gong Shibashi practice, a great standing warm-up for the body. But my VHS player bit the dust, & switching to a DVD player, I couldn't find any Shibashi DVDs. I was tickled finding this Qigong boxed set on Amazon.Having followed the Basic disc, I totally agree with the wonderful reviews--the production is first-rate, Mimi's voice is soothing, her instruction is concise, the pace is comfortable, & background music is gentle & non-obtrusive. I appreciate how Mimi explains the mental & physical benefits of each movement. After finishing the Basics disc, the feeling of relaxation was profound. I think I've found the perfect qi gong DVD. Now I'm tempted to try her yoga DVD.

Loads of information and exercises
Mimi has a beautiful voice and precise delivery of instructions. I love how she explains all the movements and what they do, as well as giving you the Chinese names for them. The video is filmed outside in a natural setting. All the exercises are easy to follow, and some of them (in the Eight Brocades on the second disk) are challenging and obviously will build leg strength and endurance. The first disk gives you an introduction to the basics and it alone will keep me busy for some time. The Flow section on the second disk is a great routine that incorporates all the previous information and gives you a long, relaxing workout. If you are a person who finds it difficult to do sitting meditation, you should try qigong. It incorporates mind, body and spirit in a moving meditation and feels wonderful. I'm a newcomer to qigong and these DVDs are just what I was looking for!

One of the Best DVD's on Go Gong!
I previously purchased Mimi's Qi gong and Yoga DVD. I was very impressed by her laid back demeanor and her soft voice. I saw this box set and took a chance and I am glad I did. I have recently been doing a great deal of research on Qi gong. Several programs from famous, and not so famous practioners offer the same course material for a cost of hundreds more!. Explained on a health and philosophical level, going into depth of how are organs are related to the five elements and how are emotions effect our organs and our health. A bargain box set at a great price! Why stop at the eight brocades, (so many programs charge you a fortune for this one exercise alone. Many do not go into as much detail or depth as Mimi). Now add the additional exercises, such as the 5 elements as well as the 18 forms and Qi gong mundras and you have almost of what is out there. The pace is fairly easy going, but at times can be a little strenuous. I have learned more from this box set then many of the books and DVD's out there with less information.

Lovely DVD, but not for me
It was recommended that I try Tai Chi or something related for some health issues, as my previous exercise programme was making things worse.I read all the reviews, and I thought that this was just the thing for me.I am so sad to say that it wasn't. Many of the moves are ones that I am not allowed to do; so many so that most of the forms are bad for me.The DVD is gorgeous, and the instructor is wonderful- quiet, calming, instructive, helpful, and very good at demonstrating the movements. This programme is perfect for nearly everyone, from what I can see, but just not for me.I wanted to give it 5 stars, but I couldn't. It would help tremendously if there were a few demos of what she does, so that the purchaser could see if the moves and the process are what are desired.

A Great Way To Begin (Or retart) You Qigong Practice...
I practiced qigong for ten years, as a daily practice, but stopped five years ago. I've been wanting to get back into it but could not find any teacher that really spoke to me and I knew would inspire me when I got lazy or too busy...then I saw a youtube video of Mimi. She is the perfect instructor - she goes slowly, explains each movement and makes it enjoyable. I'm looking forward to slowly working my way through the practices and am grateful to have found my new teacher! Highly recommend this DVD to introduce you, or re-introduce you, to one of the healthiest and most enjoyable ways to keep your body, mind and soul in shape.
