Character Drawing with Alcohol Markers: How to Draw Manga-Inspired Illustrations for Beginners

i have always struggled with alcohol markers. i could never get them to blend in ways that made me happy. this book has changed that! i pulled out my markers and i was actually able to get a nice effect. i love all of the beautiful pictures and interactive pages to practice on. this came out at the perfect time, because one of my new year’s resolutions was to try to create more art, and i have been enjoying practicing coloring.there are also many great pages of how to draw different features that have also helped me as well. i am the type of artist that always seems to be struggling to “find my style” and i feel that studying this book can help me on my way to finding myself.

If you’re looking for a beginner friendly book, this one is it. If you’re looking for an advanced book, this is it.Basically, this book is amazing. The book is high quality with amazing tips and tricks alongside the fact you get a handful of coloring pages at the end on great quality mixed media paper ✨

I don’t know why this book hasn’t gone viral yet. It is truly phenomenal! It is now one of my favorite drawing and inspiration books. It covers so many topics like blending with alcohol markers, sketching characters, coming up with your own style, and navigating the art world with your own perspective on social media. Truly astonishing with beautiful artwork. There are even watercolor textured pages in the back to practice. This is the exact book I was looking for in the style I wanted. I bought this on a whim to level up my Copic sketches, and it’s the first how-to book that made alcohol-marker shading click. Lidia Cambón breaks each demo into bite-size steps—light wash, mid-tone, shadow—so you see exactly where to place every layer. By the second chapter my flat anime faces finally had cheekbones, and the color-theory sidebar saved me from muddy skin tones. The paper stock is thick enough that the full-page examples stay razor-sharp, and there’s a blank practice spread after every lesson so I’m not hunting scrap paper. My only tweak was photocopying a few templates to keep the book pristine, but that says more about my perfectionism than the print quality. If you’ve got a small marker collection and zero confidence, this guide bridges that gap fast.

This book goes in depth on alcohol markers (my favorite), and character drawing and development. I love Lidia's work and have for a long time. She really has her own style and her choices of color and content are so interesting and unique.
