great starter kit, a must for beginners
Bought this because I wanted to try bookbinding, as a beginner I saw this had most everything I would need (aside from glue and paper) and it quickly proved to be worth the price. I have made five different books using only the kit and each came out great. The only things I can say didn’t work very well were the ring and awl. The ring for the needles didn’t fit my finger, but I didn’t really need it for bookbinding. However I did use it, I placed it on the first knuckle of my finger and used it to push the needle through multiple papers to create the holes needed for thread. So it came in handy nonetheless. The awl wasn’t sharp (like a needle point) so I didn’t use it to make holes in paper, but It worked perfectly for cardboard. The knife that came with it was at first the least liked item till I realized it was my user error (I had the blade facing up while trying to cut), it cuts well and hasn’t given me trouble. The bone folder is also real bone. I have no regrets about buying this kit.

Good quality with the basics and a little bit more!
The quality of this kit was surprising, especially for the price! For example - the scissors were good sized - 6 1/3" and feel solid...not cheap. The needles are top notch and the straight needles have their own container for protection. The finger thimble is awesome!!! There is a nice variety of waxed threads and a lot of thread on each spool - 55 yards! The awl and brush used for gluing have nice wooden handles...the awl feels pretty heavy duty. The bone folder is real bone, and feels good in the hand. The kit comes with a nice box for proper storage of the tools. The info booklet was a nice touch. I love it and will recommend it to others. Thank you for such a nice assembly of book binding tools in one kit! It is a great investment. I am binding a book for myself with 23 years of correspondence - I can't wait to get started.

Great kit! I do craft tutorial videos on YouTube ...
Great kit! I do craft tutorial videos on YouTube and bookbinding is one I've wanted to do for quite some time. It's really fun to be able to create a book by yourself! In my video I demonstrated 3 basic techniques. I'm much better at the stitching than gluing techniques, but this kit is helpful for both. Of course you have to supply your own paper and glue, but I used pretty much everything else. I wish there was some thinner thread than just the larger waxed stuff, so I pulled out some sewing thread as well. I noticed someone else commented that the bone tool was not real bone. I'm not an expert, but it felt like it was..... I have a plastic one (somewhere......) and I'm pretty sure it was a lot lighter than the heft of the tool in this kit.

Fun and complete kit!
This is a pretty cool kit for the beginner book binder. It’s an easy way to get your hands on all the basic tools needed. I have had a chance to play with each item and for the most part I was happy with all of them. If I could change two items I would ask for a better quality pair of scissors. In the end they did their job but they do stick a bit when opening and closing. The other item I would change is the thread. I would’ve added a thinner thread. I was making a pretty big book and all the knots started to become too bulky. I ended up using an Upholstery nylon thread I found at Joannes. As I get better I may learn to use the thread in the kit differently. All in all the kit was a great value and it has everything you’ll need to get started.

This is great - well approved!!!
I bind books lots. I was in a hurry & was in the wrong place to look & find all the supplies I needed. This is a little bit of what I needed to use & then I can pass it on to another person. It has all sorts of stuff that can get someone started on simple/more complex just due to every day supplies one may need to bind a book. Sometimes I wish you could buy a self healing mat (9x12 -12x12) in the book binging kit. Maybe it could be with or without option. Sometimes you might not have the best surface to cut on. overall, this is a great kit. :)

METICULOUS HUSBAND APPROVES ESP. FOR THE PRICE
My meticulous husband has been a money-savvy book collector for a long time, picking up additions at thrift stores and yard sales, but only if they are in pristine condition. However, he joined a lodge with a long history, and has recently begun collecting books related to that. Some of them are very old and many are falling apart. He already had some tools, like the brush, and bone folder, and acid-free glue, tiny brushes; but he really wanted the slim hole punch, curved needles, thread, etc. He is really thrilled with the set, especially for the price. I bought it as a gift but with his pre-approval as he is so picky. I'm surprised that he likes it so much.

This art teacher, and her budget, are very happy right now!
Bookbinding is so much fun to do with kids, and I did coptic bookbinding with my 6th-8th grades this year, but the supplies are expensive when you need multiples of things - I spent over $80 on just three awls (a pain to share), twenty straight needles (I think curved would have been easier), and linen thread, not even any bone folders. So when I had some extra money from a fundraiser, I took a chance and ordered three sets of this kit. I can't tell you how happy I am with these! SO many tools, including really-expensive-elsewhere curved needles, a nicely solid (plastic) bone folder, a decently sharp awl, straight needles, and perfectly-serviceable thread, for under $15! If you're just buying bookbinding tools for yourself, you might want to pay a bit more for "good" tools, but if you're counting your pennies and buying for a lot of kids, this will leave lots of room in your budget for other things.

Great Value Kit and Customer Service
Very impressed with this kit and with the seller. They were very responsive and quickly corrected an issue with my original delivery. The kit really does have everything you will need. The individual items are sturdy - the awl, bone-folder, needles - all work beautifully. The scissors are a little flimsy but work just fine. All in all it is an excellent kit and extremely well priced.

Package was deceptively small, but everything was there and seems to be of quality. Great for a starter kit.
