Much better than expected
Installation is as awkward as you might expect but achievable within 1 hour by yourself with the installation video which is easy to follow. !!Don't forget to move the optical connection over to the new harness!! The system has no built in DAB radio or navigation function, however the DAB can easily accessed from the OEM system or by installing a radio app on your phone to work with android auto/car play. Google maps or Apple maps will take over the nav function once a phone is paired. The only issue I had (android auto) was the screen would start zoomed in on the Google maps app upon every first connection. After speaking with AutoABC via Amazon they lead me towards their WhatsApp tech team who furnished me with an update folder. Within the folder was 2 .BIN files. These go on to a USB stick which will update the software. Problem solved. After 4-5 weeks using the system I am very pleased with it. It will auto connect when I start the car and Google maps will run seamlessly alongside Spotify. There is the odd connection issue here and there but not often enough for it to cause a problem. Upon start up, the system will show the AutoABC logo. This can be changed to any logo you like provided the picture is in the correct file format and aspect ratio. (See pics). Other systems work by using the AUX port as audio input. This system is the same however it can also use the cars built in Bluetooth for seemless connection. This way you wont need to run the AUX cable from the dash to the input jack in the armrest.

Quite a simple installation. Some minor improvements would help.
Fitted into a 2013 BMW F30 ( that’s a 3-Series) do check your current system … NBT / CCC / etc… nerd sites will help here. After some extensive research in a total minefield this was selected due to positive reviews and lack of an extra box to fit. The instructions are a bit ‘Chinglesh’ and only after a couple of similar U.T videos absorbed was confidence built. The problem with the installation (at least with a BMW F30) is lack of space directly behind the original head unit, there’s loads available if you want the considerable faff of removing the glovebox. This is where a slightly longer wiring harness would have been helpful (remember this is an interruption between the head and original supply so a rather bulky connection) had it been longer it would enable positioning of the cable clusters prior to re-fitting the unit. Anyway… job done, then a swear-athon ensued getting the carplay to work. The seller was quite responsive although a delay would happen in getting contact from ‘an engineer’ over the weekend. I mean doesn’t EVERYONE upgrade their equipment over the weekend…. Come on ! It turns out a usb cable swap brought the carplay into life. On that note, there are 2 female usb cables that branch out from the new unit, why ? No clue sorry …but 1 works and the other doesn’t do much other than charge, so I suppose that’s handy. The sound will need some tweaking through the EQ and the system initially seems responsive and crisp. Its early days but so far so good and a complete facelift over the now terribly outdated original I-drive system.

So easy to install and very responsive
I've fitted several Android units to different cars - this is the first LINUX system - and to say the least - I'm impressed. Boot up time is 5 - 10 seconds compared to 20 - 30 seconds for andoid units - from ignition on to be up and running, connected to Apple car play is impressively quick - 10-15 seconds !! Screen display is clear and vibrant and very responsive to touch. No AUX cable required for my F31. Installation took no longer than 45 minutes from start to finish replacing the HU-Entry NBT screen with a smart, sleek 10.25" touch display - instantly adding Car play ! Highly impressed and suits my F31 interior to the T

Upgraded or Replacement carplay BMW
This is a great stylish looking unit almost identical to oem Everything you need is included in the box except mounting bolts but when you replace the old unit you have the correct mounting bolts already installed Everything is a good quality and I'm pleased with the style Mostly a plastic construction with cast metal support frame that mounts to the dash The power harness that comes with this requires some hands on wire splicing and connectivity If you want parking assist cameras amongst other important features to work correctly these need connecting They are all clearly labeled and color coded for simplicity and most of the plugs and sockets all plug strait in to existing wiring loom sockets It's pretty simple to install just like a car stereo really It's compatable with all your devices apple Samsung etc The unit is a high quality and has QR codes for guides and further instructions on how to set up carplay features etc There's even a little shroud cover for the back plate to keep it all looking factory It's an excellent choice if you need a replacement or upgraded unit
