Q: Dumb question as I've never owned a smart phone before: Can I make/receive calls thru these with smart phone or is it just for listening to music?

not dumb, interesting... Bravo on surviving the temptation of a smartphone for so long. This will pair with anything that uses a Bluetooth audio profile, whether it is your smartphone, your non smartphone, your laptop, a tablet, maybe even any bluetooth audio transmitter? So if you are on your computer on a video call, you can use these to communicate instead of a separate microphone/speaker thingy. with Dual Connect, you do not need both earbuds or one specific one in your ear. if you feel like listening with just one year and the other ear is aware of the surroundings, you can do that. That way you will not yell on your video or phone calls and also be aware of people around you.

Q: Is there anyway to tell when the case needs charging? does the light blink differently on the front?

Hi. I would like to answer your good question Case has blue, green and red light indicate. A blinking red light means the case has less than 25 percent left. When the case is plugged in, solid red shows when it's charging, and the light changes to green when that's complete. Last, a blue light pulses when the earbuds are charging, and it goes off when that process is complete. Thank you for your question.

Q: Where are the extra gel tips for the earbuds? It said it comes with small medium & large! Mine only came with the pair already on the earbuds

I thought the same thing too. The extra ear buds are hidden in the top section of the box. Unfold all sections the package the ear buds came in until the package is completely flat (and ready for recycling).
