Sturdy but small - good for the price
Size and sturdiness as expected. Slightly smaller than desired, but otherwise does the job quite well. The construction is relatively quick although some parts are not too well cut and sized. But all well expected for the price!

Solid in real reality and in price!
Solid for the price, easy to put together even for someone with AuDHD. Comes with a spare dowel and backing nail just in case. All you need to construct is a hammer (nail the backing in) and screwdriver (for securing shelves to sides)Now have 4 of these units with the OG ones being like 3+ years old and NO issues :D

Stylish and Sturdy Storage That Won’t Break the Bank
The Vida Designs Oxford 3-Tier Cube Bookcase is a versatile little number that fits into almost any room without fuss. The sleek black finish gives it a modern look, perfect for adding a touch of style whether it’s in the office, living room, or even the hallway (it’s like the Swiss Army knife of bookcases).Assembly is a breeze — no need to call in the DIY cavalry. The instructions are clear, and everything slots together nicely without wobbling. The three cube shelves offer plenty of space for books, plants, or your growing collection of quirky knick-knacks. Despite its compact size, it’s surprisingly sturdy and can handle a good amount of weight (I’ve stacked a mix of books and a hefty plant pot without any sagging). It’s a smart, practical choice for anyone needing extra storage without splashing out. And with the flat-pack format, you get that satisfying feeling of building it yourself, minus the typical IKEA-style meltdown!

Good end result after a little extra effort
I had pretty low expectations of this after reading the mixed reviews, but it was the only thing I'd come across that would fit perfectly in the little alcove-within-an-alcove I wanted it for, and between Amazon's ever varying prices and a promotional voucher I got it for well under half the usual price so it seemed worth a shot. Despite all the issues below I'm very pleased with the end result, especially considering how little I paid. It seems sturdy once built and should be fine to support the weight of as many books as you can fit into it, although I'm using it for DVD/Blu-ray box sets myself, leaving my original bookcase free for the few paper books I've kept since moving to Kindle. Once 'doctored' a bit it actually looks good too, sitting in my little home office alcove. If I hadn't had to do some creative assembly and some cover-up work to get it looking that way, it would have been 5 stars, but I can't justify more than 3 stars due to the poor finish and lack of quality control, especially taking into account the full RRP.First impressions on opening the box weren't great, I could immediately see a chip out of the black finish at the corner of one shelf, along with a scratch along the front edge of it, and what looked like a lot of marking but actually turned out to be mostly dust on many of the other panels. Having wiped away the dust I could still see a few greasy looking marks on the side panels if the light caught them just right, but knowing that wouldn't happen where I planned to put it, I went ahead with putting it together. The shelf with the chipped corner I used for the bottom panel, chip downwards so it's against the floor and can't be seen. The black was peeling away slightly at one corner of a side panel too, a dab of glue sorted that.Putting the side panels and shelves together was the work of a few minutes. Don't be tempted (as some reviewers seem to have been!), to use a hammer on the dowels, they push in easily by hand and then it's just a matter of adding the screws which also have pre-drilled holes. The backing panel was the time consuming bit as it came in 5 separate pieces which all had to be nailed on. Forewarned by previous reviews, and thinking myself that the provided nails looked a bit heavy duty for the job, I used my own finer panel pins for the most part and managed to avoid any damage - one at each corner and one in the middle of each vertical side is enough per panel. One good part of this kit is the three little brackets provided to go along the join of each pair of panels, which add a good bit of rigidity. You do need to use the nails provided when attaching those as the nail head needs to be big enough not to go right though the hole in the bracket.I got the black version as I said (and noticed my hands were going black as I built it, so wouldn't advise trying to clean it with anything other than a dry cloth despite the instructions saying a slightly damp one is fine, or the colour seems likely to come off!) and unlike the photos the back panel provided was black on one side, brown on the other - that was fine as I put the black side facing inwards and the brown side at the back where it's against the wall. However the side edges of the panel were also brown, which didn't look so great when viewed from the side and you could also see a tiny bit of bare wood at the edges of some of the shelves where they met the side panels. Five minutes with a black marker sorted both those issues, I've included both before and after pics. The stickers provided to cover the screws don't stand out too much in the black version, although you do see a little shine off them if the light catches them.So basically, if you can pick it up cheap and are willing to do a little bit of extra work to fix any imperfections, this is a decent buy. I wouldn't pay full price though, just due to what seems to be poor quality control.

Great value for money
The free standing shelves are really sturdy. Easy to put together - drill/screwdriver and a hammer is needed. It’s a great space saving idea and fits in small places. It is very stabile and all the screw holes were in the right places.Easy to follow instructions which don’t take hours to include. Took about 10 mins to assemble.

Easy to put together
I ordered 8 of the 3-tier cubes in total. I went for these because at a depth of around 24cm they were narrow enough to fit in an otherwise unusable space behind the lounge door (most units seem to be 30/35cm which is too deep). (I really wanted floor to ceiling floating shelves but they are very expensive lol and getting the right size is impossible, so these units it was). As they are narrower than a lot of units, I don't think any standard size storage baskets will fit the shelves. The finish on them was fairly good with some marks, other than the last unit which had chips and coating missing from several of the pieces. But not really a problem for me, as they are not a centre piece in the room - it could be an issue if they were. For the price the quality is acceptable. The units feel sturdy and go together really easily and quickly. I am not sure however what the difference was between the "shelf" panels marked 2 (x1) and 3 (x3) because they all looked identical to each other. It would be helpful if the back panels had marks for where the nails should go as it's really hard to judge when nailing them in place, but it's not a deal breaker.Overall happy with them and would buy again :)
