Black Water.
A very well-made horror/thriller, this is a cut above most films of this type and budget; It is a good example of how film-makers who understand their craft can creatively produce effective work. The drama is slow to start as it establishes the characters and context, but once the fishing cruise gets underway, it quickly develops into a tense and quite frightening drama; shot almost entirely in the claustrophobic setting of a gloomy mangrove swamp, the realistic approach and use of real crocodiles enhances the authenticity of the nightmare predicament the protagonists find themselves in.I am perplexed at the negative reviews the film has garnered on this page; I can only imagine it has been judged by standards inapplicable to it; don't buy it if want star-led, CGI dominated, pop-corn entertainment – this isn't for a mass audience. It is finely tuned, menacing horror, all the more effective in that it is both plausible and has a basis in real incidents with animals of this type.A very recommendable addition to the genre, especially if you appreciate an approach that builds slow, psychological, creeping fear. The DVD release has subtitles and a couple of interesting extras in the form of an informative 22 minute “making of” documentary and a few deleted scenes.

really tried to like this, thought would be suspenceful but was totally annoying
Really tried to like this, thought would be suspenceful but was totally annoying. so why'd I find it annoying?warning spoilers below!!well the stupid mistakes:1. TRYING TO WALK OUT!! After the man sensibly said to retrieve the boat while they have the energy, they should have got on with it, not waited until they are weak, and why let her waste time & try to get out by tree walking? they must have seen how impassable it is by foot when they boated there.2. DROP THE ROPE I mean it was a lot of work to retrieve the rope in the first place, that was actually quite good acting wise and suspenseful but after that it became a "lets drag this out by making sure they do stupid things"So the rope was tied to stop the boat drifting away, so when he said give me some slack, did he really need slack if the rope was stuck on something under the water at his end anyway?? He obviously didn't mean drop the rope. anyone with basic common sense would retie it immediately.3. SCREAMING TO SAY COME HERE CROCODILE- WERE HERE!! when he went under the boat and it moved, its obvious he's trying to upturn the boat - so stop screaming and yelling and letting the crocodile know your there. SO annoying. then screaming was generally the thing. so painful to watch - yes a person might would scream but in reality if you know it attracts the croc you are as quiet as a mouse if you want to survive.4. MEN DIE! GIRL DUNT JAWS style - so why did 2 strong prepared men immediately die with no struggle when the small girl has the croc so desperate to eat her that it climbs into the boat! yet she magically gets deposited on mud and her wounds aren't that bad and she isn't really bleeding, when her sister was bleeding nonstop, even after covering and binding the wound.5. SCREAMING - had to repeat - so annoying. like reliving 50s movies (which I love and were very well acted when the women didn't scream!)6. STAYING PUT til they are weak - the one thing the man said not to do.7. WASTED 90 MINS OF MY LIFE!!

A TRULY TENSE AFFAIR
Based on a true story -Adam(Andy Rodoreda) along with his wife Grace (Diana Glenn) and her younger sister Lee((Maeve Dermody) set out together on a fishing trip in the mangrove swamps in northernAustralia, they hire a guide Jim ((Ben Oxenbould), with his boat for the venture. On the way Jim tells the three novice fishermen that the swamps were once infested withcrocodiles but most had been shot, so very few remain. The trip seems to start well, but, suddenly the boat becomes capsised, they've been attackedby a giant croc, Jim it's first victim. The travellers if but eventually in Lee's case find sanctuary nesting in the branches abovethe black waters below. After a while Grace decides using the branches of the tree's to check out the area, however, she realises that they are totally surrounded by water. There seems to be no escape for the travellers, nobody knows they are there, the chanceof rescue remote to say the least. After a long wait, Adam decides to make what is perhaps an ill-advised attempt at upturningthe capsized boat. With a giant croc in search of food lurking will any survive?A film that has met with various reviews some critical, some positive, though the movie isobviously a low-budget affair it does, in my opinion, have oodles of tension and suspenseand will keep most viewers on the edge of their seat awaiting the next sighting of thepredator lurking in the dark water.Certainly, a good time filler that's worthy of a viewing.

People screaming in a tree
very annoying characters, the two female characters' script is screaming, you get pretty annoyed listening to that noise. there is no suspense, or little of it. what i struggle to understand is that both female characters are attacked in the same way by the crocodile, yet only one of them has wounds,... crocodile bite force is bone crushing, and fatal after the death role.if you are looking for another crocodile film like the Rogue, unfortunately this is not it.i think if the film had music to create a suspense in the atmosphere similar to Rogue or Jaws, would have been a better film, rather than trying to convey suspense and fear through characters screaming constantly. Yes people would be terrified in that situation, but as an audience you are left there watching people screaming in a tree.

Low budget keeps it real, very tense horror drama
As the three holiday makers run into difficulty on a fishing trip in an Australian river / swamp, the low budget nature of the film actually contributes to making this a situation realistic, tense film. The film isn't so low budget that the crocodile looks pastic and the injury's like ketchup. The film, is dramatic and tense.
