Great beginner RC car
Purchased this for my son to play with as he has outgrown all the slow department store cars. We upgraded to RC rock crawlers a couple years ago, but he has been asking for something faster. I watched a lot of review videos before landing on the HOSIM brand. I have never owned a name brand "professional" RC car so I can't compare it to those. But for a first time user, the truck has been great. It came with two 1500mah batteries. We get about 25 minutes out of each battery. I also purchased a 2600mah battery from HOSIM as well. It is a perfect fit for the truck and lasts about 35 minutes. Surprisingly, I think it is lighter than the 1500mah batteries. My son and I have run about 8 battery charges through the truck and it has been holding up great. All we do with it is drive it around the yard, ditch, and cul-de-sac. I think they call it "bashing". We built a ramp for it to jump and it's been a blast. One of the main things I like about it is that you can adjust the max throttle on the remote. This allows my son to drive it at lower speeds to get used to steering and controlling it. HOSIM also seems to offer a lot of spare parts that seem to be reasonably priced. So when we do break it, it should be fixable. The only downside we have found to it is the shocks. When driving fast through the yard, the front end starts to bounce like a basketball and eventually flips over unless you slow down considerably. I ordered a set of oil filled shocks from HOSIM to see if that will make a difference.Overall, my son and I have been extremely happy with the purchase. I may even buy a second so we can race against each other.Update (4 months):I replaced the shocks with HOSIM oil filled shocks (FY-JSZ01, $34) and it made a world of difference. Super controllable at high speeds now. My son did end up breaking a drive cup, but I was able to order a replacement set of 4 for $9 and had them next day from Amazon. We really do love this thing.

with some upgrades, one of the best 1/16 bashers available
Basically the same as the mjx 1/16, these little rc's are the best bang for your buck. Out of the box it performs well and is very durable, only thing that broke partially with were the body mounts, other than that their built tough. Stock esc and motor are only 2s capable on this model. I swapped over a hobbywing esc from another rc and a 2838 3800kv motor capable of 3s and what a difference in handling, control, throttle, and power on 3s and the upgraded esc. Running on 3s eventually will wear out the front and rear differentials as well as the spur. Upgrade the diffs to the steel diffs and get the hardened steel spur and you will have one of the best 1/16 bashers out there for the money. Throw on some proline badland tires and you will be ready to hit the dirt, grass and pavement in no time.

Cheap parts break easy
Breaks super easy.had to replace 5 differnt parts haven't even been able to use but maybe 3 times haven't been able use a full battery. Now I am waiting for new shocks 12 days now and still waiting on shocks hopefully this Tuesday I can get them and installed on car. Will absolutely never buy a hosim car again. To many thing break way to easy. Shipping of parts take way to long to get here.

Bad to.... HELL YEAH!!!!
Ok so with the price of the truck being what it was I spent over that price on parts to get it to where it is now. Hosims customer service folks were kinda helpful but I sent invoices for over the amount of the truck when I got it brand new so I should've just bought another one but I kinda thought once they saw how much I had spent on parts in less than a month that they would offer to send me a replacement but that never happened they did however send me the front and rear drive teeth gears, which I had replaced already but hey, it's something. Now that I found the original issue and addressed it..... This thing is insanely fast on a 2s battery. I have another RC truck and it runs 3s but the X16 can smash it on 2s. So there was a alignment issue on the chassis and the rear gear box didn't come with 2 screwed on place on the under side where there are clearly holes for them. So I've got about 300+into this truck now that should've been the original base price. I wish CS was a little more helpful but I figured it out. After my work and research, and money, I'm giving this truck 4 stars. It would be five but CS didn't step up like I feel they should've and the score is on my over all experience with the purchase. I hope this helps and I hope you get one that ain't defective. So it also says it runs 3s, first esc said nope and fried. Got a new one, same exact kind, and make sure you have your wheelie bar on because 3s makes this sucker fly
