You read right. My only filter went out with the garbage. And the garbage truck took "that" plastic bag before I realized it. Thank goodness I was able to replace it without skipping a beat. Right size, installed like the original. Very happy with this puchase

I have a Dyson V8 - after about 6 months, it started to do this cycling noise, suction then off, the on etc.I cleaned the filter, and it still did this.I read a review that replacing the filter is the best option. I received these 2 today and they are exactly like the Dyson filter.However, I still had the same problem. I switch from the vacuum attachment to one of the hand held and it did not have the above issue.I noticed that in the joint (swivel part) of the vacuum attachment I had a clog [I have cats] and there was a ton of hair stuck in there, this was making the Dyson think it had a bad or dirty filter. I cleaned it out took a minute, since my finger can only reach so far in there, from either side, but once cleared... Poof!! Works great again.In the future: Yes I'll replace the filter probably 2x a year, but Ill also check that swivel connection, as it seems to be a reservoir for my cat's hair.

My Dyson V-7 would start running for about 5 seconds and then die. Duh, I’ve had it for about 3 years and NEVER cleaned it!!! And I have dogs and a cat, so you know it always fills with hair. So I YouTubed my vac & followed the instructions and WOW!!!! was my vac FILTHY!!!! It was one of those moments where you think, “Man, sometimes I am really dumb.” But in my defense, my wife vacuums so it just didn’t enter my mind. She thought the battery was dying but of course it was way overdue for a cleaning. Really, it was almost completely the filter that was clogged so I rinsed it in hot water and the dirt just kept flowing out of it. I let it dry overnight and the next day my wife vacuumed the about half the house with no problem before the battery ran out. So I ordered these and then replaced the filter and my wife re-vacuumed the WHOLE house before the battery died and needed recharging. And it increased the suction power by about another half. So instead of wasting time cleaning these nasty filters, just replace it!!!
