Great Product. Check properly.
Check properly your packaging and product box as I received a opened seal camera box, and the box was little bit pressed due to rough packaging. I did not check the camera and quickly placed a replace request. After one day, I received an order which had a brand new box with a seal (i.e. box was not opened before) Camera is great. It has touchscreen, wifi, NFC, we can download some camera apps from sony, we can connect smartphone & use it as a remote. Camera is best for the beginners. Lens is small but enough for the rookies. We can always buy a new lens. Takes about 75 to 85min to charge completely(2% to 100%). It can record full hd videos. The flash do not work in videos.

Poor videographers, this one's for you!
I'm sure you know the difference between this and the A6000 spec-sheet-wise but let me add a more blunt distinction from an owner's perspective: A5100 is for video shooters and A6000 is a photography monster.More bluntness:- No, the touchscreen isn't all that great and don't buy it just for that. Well it's not bad, but it's the 179 AF points (same as A6000) that's more important for easy/one-man/stedicam focusing.- Small body = heating problem (overheats after 5 mins of shooting in XAVC-S (which offers dubious advantage over AVCHD of A6000) and about 17 mins in AVCHD)- Small body = bad grip.+ About 5.5K cheaper than A6000. That's the only real advantage it has. So if you are cash strapped, save some dough over A6000 and put that in lenses.+ Stop calling it a selfie camera! It is an ILC with a big APS-C sensor (again, same as A6000) that gives great low-light performance (upto ISO 1600), sharp 1080p image (much better than comparable Canons and Nikons) and a helpful 180° screen for vlogs.- It shares the same NP-FW50 battery with the A6000 and the runtime is not that great. So add the cost of a spare unit and a charger too.+ The lack of viewfinder and hot shoe is a plus for me because it keeps the weight down, allowing you to get more creative shots. I have the same indifference towards the lack of headphone/mic port - it's always dual-system audio for me and the on-board mics are actually pretty good for casual stuffs.+ SD slot on the side. A6000 has it under the battery cover.+ Less buttons = distraction-free shooting. This one's highly subjective! Here're some scenarios along with my preferred settings where the fast AF is a godsend for the single/rig-free shooter (Movie Manual Exposure mode) -* Close-ups/dolly shots: Center Lock-On AF [ON], AF-C, Center AF, AF Track Duration [HIGH], AF Drive Speed [NORMAL], Pre-AF [OFF], Face Detection [ON], touchscreen unused* Walk-n-talk shots: Same as above but with Center Lock-On AF [OFF] and with the Help button assigned to Focus Hold (press and hold to lock focus)* Dialogue with focus pull (static shot): Same as above but this time I'm using touch screen to pull focus. Note that even when focus area is set to CENTER, touching temporarily overrides it to WIDE. It'll show a blinking SPOT FOCUS sign on the screen when you touch something and after a few seconds it locks down the focus (blinking stops) so no need to press and hold the Help as in the previous scenario.* Stedicam shots: Same as above but don't get too fancy with wide open aperture and crazy focus pulls! I sometime turn on Center Lock-On AF.Finally, some jargon buster -* Center Lock-On AF = Object tracking* AF Track Duration = How fast it tracks = How easily distracted it gets* AF Drive Speed = How quickly the focus changes from one subject to other* Focus Areas: WIDE = Use all the focus points/entire screen. CENTER = Duh. Don't use others. KISS.* Focus Mode: Leave it at AF-C since manual focus on Sony E-mount lenses are very unreliable because of their fly-by-wire design. I changed my opinion about this camera after 1year
Sony Alpha 5100 is Mirrorless camera!!! Not DSLR! Beginners should know the difference between Mirror less and DSLR cameras! Mirrorless is advanced technology! These are smaller and lighter than DSLR!✓Sony a5100 is a great beginners camera! U can capture GREAT quality pictures(photos) like 4k quality in automatic and manual fuctions in this camera! But this camera is NOT for photography beginners! It doesn't have viewfinder! Instead it has a touch screen! So u can touch wherever u want to focus on screen!✓But it is a great option for mini or short FILM makers (beginners). U can film high quality 1080p video at 25fps and 50fps in XAVC format... but u need 64gb or higher XC memory card for filming in XAVC mode..✓ But a normal HC 16gb memory card is enough to film in AVCHD and MP4 formats.. which are lesser quality than XAVC format!✓ this camera comes with a kit lens 3.5-5.6 / 16mm-50mm (power lens) u can shoot great wide shots! Up to 35mm.. But a bit dim closeups with 50mm. These lens are good at this price!✓if you upgrade to other costly lens! This camera can give ULTIMATE 1080px videos.. because it has 24MP APSC crop sensor same as A6000 camera! And almost same as A6300 , A6500 and A6400 too!!! But these cameras can shoot 4k videos..but A5100 shoot only 1080p videos!!! But great quality 1080p videos in 16:9 aspect ratio!!!✓this is a mirrorless camera.. which is upgraged version of DSLR!! So it is smaller and lesser weight than DSLR!! Because of its size and weight.. it is easy for short filmmaking! (For Beginners who knows video editing and film making techniques)✓ it is a great option for travelers... Vloggers... Youtubers... Short nd mini filmmakers with little bit film making knowledge!✓ it contains flip screen.. for selfies and vloging! Inside camera settings it contains good iso, shutter speed, white balance, peeking, 24 and 50 fps, app store(paid apps) , etc..✓ it is a good camera at this price point! (30k /-)... Don't expect like a6500 or a6400 ( 1 lakh range)✓ if u want a DSLR at this price..!!! My suggestion is to prefer Canon 1500D at [rupees25k to 30k] and Nikon D3500 at [rupees 25k to 30k] and Nikon D5600 [at rupees 35k] with kit lens only! And other Mirrorless camera Fujifilm XT100 at rupees around 30k !!! All these above cameras have same APSC 24MP crop sensor!! All of them films 1080px video and comes with Almost same 16 to 50 mm kit lens!!!✓ this is my honest opinion.. i liked this camera!! At this price point!! If u want DSLR.. Nikon D5600 is best!In 2021... I changed my mind.. whatever I said before about this before is true. And this is a decent camera for vloggers , tourists, photography.. with good lens👍.. But if u seriously wants to make a short films.. wedding films.. or even any thing related to creative videography.. don't buy this camera.. go for Sony a6300 or any above models.. a6400 or a6500.. trust me on this. If u want to make films go for a 4k camera!!!!don't buy this little camera for film making!!But for photography.. vlogs.. this is best for beginners.. but u may need to buy other lens!U can go for canon DSLR cameras in this range of usage.. because canon lens are very cheaper than sony! But same quality!!! But for filmmaking.. trust me.. go for 4k camera.. like sony a7 series or atleast a6300(cheaper) or a6500(costlier).

Very robust entry camera with features pushed to the max. Gr8 work Sony
Edit: Had to return due to1) High quality recording not possible because camera not recognizing industry standard sd card. I used sandisk extreme pro (it's v30 4k)2) Overheating issueFor this price you can't get a better camera. I use canon, gopro and Nikon as well, so I believe this is the very best option for vloggers, beginner photogs, travel cam and product photography. Slight heating issues/hanging when recording videos at highest quality. I take photography workshops and i found the guide in this cam does half the work for me. If you have more money get a sony a6400.

perfect for my needs
this camera fits perfectly into any bag, it produces great photo quality for the purposes of social media, and really good video once you learn to use it. I really like how portable it is, but still feels heavy and high quality. I think it would probably be quite fragile so I am quite careful with it, but as anyone should be with a piece of technology. overall, excellent value for money, i would highly recommend this camera for people starting out on youtube, however i feel like there are a few accessories that i would need to purchase. DOWNSIDES: battery lasts long but i would consider buying another battery, it has no external microphone jack and the audio isnt flawless but for my purposes, it is good enough.

返品
サイトにはたしかに本体の他の付属物も書いてあり、それを前提に購入したが、たいそうな箱の真ん中に本体だけがでーんと。返せば済むものですが、購入から返品までの時間を返せと言いたい。詐欺。

Best Sony other then A7s for video, Amazing stills too
I own 4 of these, the video is amazing, very little morie, great in low light. The still quality is great too. I basically look at cameras like it's a chip with a lens. I would rather own a bunch of affordable bodies, keep the lenses I like on them, and never change the lens in the field. This strategy greatly reduces the chance of dirt on my sensor. I personally don't like to look at an image with the sky with dirt all over the image, and the further you stop a lens down the greater the dirt on the sensor will show.I also use a Sony DSC-HX60 for timelapse shots, they are cheap, look great and travel small. All the Sony cameras I have tried, to use apps, especially timelapse required a firmware upgrade, and a Play Store account with funds to load the apps. I wish they had it upgraded as of May 2015, the version I received is 1.0 ,and the apps need 1.1.So to me, rather then putting all my eggs into a A7s, I would rather own five of these. To have a pristine sensor is paramount, especially when shooting video and panning. It took forever but Sony finally did deliver a nearly perfect sensor for video with this camera.I do go through cameras fairly regularly, so will I own this in 2 to 3 years, probably not, but I have to say for today this is the best price performance camera bar none. I also had a a6000, not worth the extra dollars to me, inferior video quality, poor layout of battery SD card placement. I also dont really care about the viewfinder it has, you have to be straight on to use it any way. Just get a nice loupe, and enjoy the excellent screen on the a5100. Also sometimes my subjects like to see what they look like on camera, try that on the a6000 while shooting.

Great for Twitch/Youtube Streaming and Youtube Videos!!
If you're a streamer on Twitch or Youtube or want to make Youtube videos, this is a great mirrorless camera at it's price point. It does 1080p 60fps extremely well. Lots of in camera functions and features to get the shot correctly. A very familiar and easy to use GUI even for me as I used to be a Canon exclusive guy.Has nearly all the same benefits of a dSLR (Interchangeable lenses, etc)With a dummy battery, this thing works great as webcam/stream cam and has a 100% clean HDMI output, so you don't have to worry about onscreen info ruining the shot. You just need to go into settings and set the HDMI output correctly.Doesn't over heat. I have not tested it outside in direct sunlight, nor have I tested in doors in direct sunlight. I HAVE used it for 12+ hours straight in my home office and haven't had an issue. Typical HVAC settings and in a room with only blinds on the windows (no blackout curtains) and it doesn't overheat.I use an external microphone (AT2035) so I can't comment on the on-board mic. But, picture quality is great.

Perfect for studio environment.
I needed a four camera setup for video shooting, and that's an expensive feat if you want to make it look nice! The a5100 fits the bill.It puts out great 1080 video with Sony's reliable clean hdmi out, direct to hard drive. With proper studio lighting, the kit lens and APS-C sensor provides crisp images with good color. When studio mounted, the lack of in-body image stabilization is a non-issue.The a5100 has an overheating problem when you use it on battery and record to SD card; it shuts down automatically after about ten-fifteen minutes of continuous shooting. I can confirm, however, that these cameras when you use them with a dummy battery and don't record on the camera itself, that they will happily output video for endless hours without issue. So long as you know your needs and are happy within those fixed limits, the Sony a5100 is an excellent and affordable choice for a studio.
