Detours can be deadly! When four friends embark on a road trip to Vegas looking for fun and a few cheap thrills, they have no idea they they're about to fall into a blood-drenched charnel house of tension, and the darkest depths of pure primal fear! After their car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, they must find a way back to civilization. But their plan soon arouses the malice of Rusty Nail - a murderous, vengeful trucker with an insatiable appetite for gruesome mutilation and sadistic pain - and he'll stop at nothing to ensure they pay their toll...one body part at a time!

A nice ('n nasty) surprise...
The world of straight to dvd sequel's is a strange one as once in a while one turns up that at first seems completely pointless yet turns out to be a decent piece of (low brow) work... Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead falls straight into this :-)Following the terror exploits of killer trucker "Rusty Nail" as he picks on a group of young 'un after they "borrow" his car, this movie quickly changes from the 1st film's cat and mouse style to a more slasher based premise... Surprisingly this works as for the most part the writers throw in some interesting situations that "Rusty Nail" puts his victims through, the film is also helped by having director Louis Morneau at the helm (his best flick Retroactive remains an highly underrated jem!) who gives the film a polish and handles the gore and tension well...All in all this is a decent piece of video shelf filler :-) (Yeap i'd be willing for a part 3!)On the dvd front you get a few decent making of piece's and a nice and gritty widescreen picture...
