Smooth, smooth cup of joe
I love this coffee maker. Purchased 2 days ago during the Prime event (which was fun this year) and still improving my method but I am sold on my second try. I am the only hot coffee drinker in my household (caffeine fiend college-aged son conceded recently coffee is good but only cold?) so I don't use coffee making machines. I also don't use coffee pod type brewers to avoid piling up plastic waste. I do French press and pour over in that order of preference for taste. The OXO press, is now my favorite coffee making method for two reasons: taste, ease of use and cleanup. I also think it's kind of fun pumping the water through thr press as it brews :-)I made the mistake of using less grounds than my French press the first time and the result was watery coffee. I was worried this OXO was a dud. Oh and I also used an Aeropress compatible filter. Several months ago, I purchased and returned an Aeropress. The water went straight through the press. On my second try, I used an equal amount of grounds as for a French press cup. I didn't use a filter this time (just to see the difference) and made an extra effort to tamp down the grounds to avoid water leaking through prematurely. So far, my observation is a little always does. Maybe it's my technique, but for now I am compensating for that by adding a little more hot water for a second mini-press so enough flavor comes through. The result was deliciously smooth coffee that i can't remember coming out of my kitchen in a long time. This made me think of how much silty coffee I must have been drinking from the French Press all this time. When I finish a coffee of the OXO brewed coffee, there isn't a bunch of coffee silt at the bottom.Cleanup is simple. The only parts that get coffee dirty is the carafe at the bottom and the filter piece. The main press piece only touches hot water. The coffee tamp can be wiped clean. I don't bother washing those parts. The only negative compared to the French press method is the coffee temperature is not as hot. I like mine burning hot because I take a while to finish my cup. This is not a huge issue though as the merits of the OXO press far far outweigh. I can't wait to try the cold brew.Highly recommended!

OXO Brew Rapid Brewer: My Morning Coffee Just Got a Major Upgrade – Absolutely 5 Stars!
As a self-proclaimed coffee snob who also values efficiency, I've been on a long quest for the perfect home brewing system. I've tried pour-overs, French presses, and various automatic drip machines, but none have quite hit the sweet spot of convenience, quality, and speed until the OXO Brew Rapid Brewer entered my kitchen. This machine is a game-changer and has unequivocally earned its 5-star rating. The "Rapid Brewer" in its name is no exaggeration. This machine lives up to its promise, delivering a perfectly brewed pot of coffee in an incredibly short amount of time. Mornings are often a rush, and the ability to have a delicious, hot cup ready almost instantly is a huge win. There's no long wait, just quick, efficient brewing that doesn't compromise on flavor. And speaking of flavor, this is where the OXO truly shines. The taste of the coffee is consistently exceptional. It achieves that elusive balance of rich extraction without bitterness. I believe this is due to its precise temperature control and the rainmaker shower head, which evenly saturates the coffee grounds. Every cup tastes clean, vibrant, and full-bodied, rivaling coffee from much more expensive machines or even my favorite local coffee shop. The simplicity of operation is another major selling point. It's incredibly intuitive – fill the water reservoir, add your grounds, and press a button. There are no complicated settings or programming to fuss with, making it perfect for those groggy early mornings. Yet, it still offers the option for single-serve or full carafe brewing, adding to its versatility. Finally, the design is sleek and practical. It has a compact footprint that doesn't dominate my countertop, and the stainless steel accents give it a premium feel. Cleaning is also straightforward, which is always a bonus. In conclusion, the OXO Brew Rapid Brewer has completely elevated my morning routine. It delivers consistently excellent coffee with remarkable speed and effortless operation. If you're looking for a coffee maker that combines convenience with genuinely superior brew quality, look no further. This is an investment you won't regret – a resounding 5-star product!

Amazing compact brewer
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Fits in a backpack, brews coffee perfectly when combined with a fine ground coffee, easy to use and clean, and is inexpensive. I use this at the office every single day to get a wonderful semi-espresso to make my morning americano, latte, or occasionall shakerato. Paired with a decent hand grinder you can get some really good coffee out of this. Cold brew is pretty decent as well. I add an aeropress paper filter under the grounds to get a smoother brew. A few tips that work for me:1. After adding the water, give the pump a half-press to better pre-infuse the grounds 2. Only pre-infuse for 1-1.5 minutes for fine ground med/dark roast3. Wet the filter with hot water after putting into the basket, then pump the excess water out before adding the grounds.4. Use near espresso fine grind so the water doesn't drain through before you start pumping.5. Tamp the grounds well with a decent amount of pressure. That's it. Enjoy a great cup of coffee.

Neat tool, maybe a bit too much.
Good such as it is, interesting alternative to the Aeropress, but a bit more work to set up and tear down and clean. Coffee is not the same, less smooth, but more variable. The pumping action is obviously to get around aeropress patents, and it has varied success.Still testing, but it’s different to get used to. We’ll see.

Great Oxo coffee brewer
This Oxo coffee gadget is great for making hot or cold brew coffee. Very easy to use. I actually run a second brew with the existing grounds, but not as much water, to fill my larger coffee mug-it works for me. It is a nice compact size and is super easy to clean.
