Earlex 0HV2901PUS Precision Spray Station, 1-12" Spray Radius

This is the first paint gun I have ever owned. I had mixed feelings about what to expect after reading many reviews.Bottom line: Overall this little gun performs wonderfully! I was able to paint around 300 sq ft in about 20% the time it would have taken me to paint by hand (roller / brush / etc.) on the first use. I practiced getting the pattern right using just water before I attempted paint and I discovered it was very easy to use. It takes a little practice to get the coverage even, but it is definitely possible.Cleanup isn't too difficult. It took about 20 minutes to clean the entire gun. I used a plastic brush, a sponge, a toothbrush, and water. Considering how it saved me hours of painting it was well worth the time savings to spend 20 minutes cleaning it right.I bought the 1.5 mm brass tip kit (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011CZT9W6) and it worked perfectly. All of the parts were included in this kit and it allowed for very even distribution of paint. At some point I might try the standard 2.5 mm tip since this one tended to clog every now and then as the paint dried at the end of the nozzle, but it didn't affect the paint spray much.Overall, well worth the money. I'd recommend this to anyone considering home projects. Just make sure you cover EVERYTHING to protect it from the overspray.

I have mixed thoughts about this HVLP.Everything about this unit feels cheap. All the plastic is thin, the plastic chassis looks poorly fitted together, and the hose feels like it will become brittle over time and likely not last long-term... . . . and yet, it works very well, and I bought this to replace a Wagner power painter that served me well for years but finally gave out.This Earlex: The flow control is effective, and so is the spray control for horizontal, vertical, and round patterns. I am using my Earlex to paint interior doors and I am very pleased with the results. I am getting a perfect sheet of paint on two and three panel doors, and in my opinion (or maybe it's my lack of professional skill with a traditional brush), doors are where painting mistakes are most noticeable and toughest to accept.If you are buying your first HVLP of any kind, I have two pieces of advice that others also give: Don't use skip filtering your paint. What you spend on filters will save you time and aggravation, and in the long run SAVE you money on paint. If you skip filtering, the smallest clump in your paint will give you uneven results or/and clog the nozzle. Be very disciplined about promptly and thoroughly cleaning your HVLP very soon after you are done painting. Keep its nozzle as pristine as possible because that's where the HVLP "magic" happens. Last, you may see demos of HVLP used with little or no taping off surrounding areas. The control is good - but not that good with this one at least.So it's doing the job well for me, but I am sure this would not be the choice for a professional contractor.

cheap everything and paints like crap

Item arrived defective. The grooves where you toggle the spraying action from circular, vertical, or horizontal appear worn down or chipped. Also, no other needle kits are available for this model aside from potentially a 1mm needle kit. If you are looking to add needle kits for other projects look elsewhere. I'm sure for some folks a 2.5 mm needle is all you'll need. But for finer applications/details, spend the extra money and save yourself the hassle.

This sprayer does spray nicely but it is cheaply made. The hose doesn't fit into the socket well and it pops out during use quite often. This isn't just one defective one, I have purchased 5 of these and they all do not fit the hose. The handle is all 1 piece so it can be difficult to open the jar to refill. Some others are 2 pieces and can disconnect.It does spray very nicely when it's working but it clogs way too easily. That's why I had 5 of them. I need to spray on a regular basis. This is great for once a while use but not daily use. I have gotten rid of all of these I own and purchased 1 of the Earlex $299 spray station with the metal gun. It is way better for my needs.

Great and easy to use paint sprayer. It is not that great for big jobs because you will need to spray the area multiple times but perfect for painting doors, cabinets, kitchens etc.It is very easy to use, and has very little over spray, I took it out of the box and minutes later I was running it like a pro.Also very light weight and no metal parts so its very easy to clean.

I used it to paint all the eaves of the house. It does a great job of spraying. I would say this is great for small to medium size jobs. I had to keep cleaning the tip or needle after a while. I had a little bit of tough time cleaning it afterwards. Like others mentioned, you need to be careful and attach tightly the hose otherwise it may detach. Also on this model, the hose doesn't rotate so it you'll need to adjust from time to time or the air pump or so the hose may detach also due to that. If I'm not wrong, the next model up or 2 addresses these 2 issues but they are more expensive too. I am still happy with this sprayer even if I have to buy a new needle for my next DIY project.

Worked great. Sprayed primer and water based semigloss paint without thinning. Pretty easy to clean, and easy to use.
